I have a 50 gallon reserve fuel tank that I fill up when i find slightly cheaper gas on occasion and I've noticed that different places cut me off for different reasons. One place cut me off at 35 gallons. Another place, 25 Gallons. Today I was cut off at $99. I dont understand why the inconsistency. BTW, I am located in the Huntsville, Alabama area. 87 octane was $2.79 today.

Regular gas is about $3.19/gallon in my Florida area about a hour south of Tampa.
I bought gas for my lawnmower yesterday - $3/worth.
The guy ahead of me bought $80 worth for his pickup truck.
why not have it delivered to the house???
i think it’s $100 minimum here, but i can have it delivered if i have a tank from the same place i buy my fueloil...
I have read that gas degrade the longer it is stored? The use of gas stabilizers is recommended. Also, gasoline with ethanol (E10 or E85) has a shorter useful life if not kept completely sealed from the outside air, as water from the air will be absorbed by the ethanol and contaminate the gasoline. Comment?
Some of the cutoffs are related to the form of payment that you use.
Coworker has a Chevy diesel - 40 gal tank - diesel is $4.20 here / $170 to fill it.
There are some places that he can fill it - some cut it at $125.
At our local Wally World station you can ask the clerk inside to manually restart the pump. You can pump all you want in one transaction that way.
We’re pushing for a 10 gallon limit here in Texas. Hard to see why anyone would need more.
(just kidding, for now that is)
As others have said - just do multiple transactions.
The store owner wants your money for your gas - all of it. But he also wants multiple customers over the same time you’re pumping gas - so they can come in to the store and spend even more money.
I can’t remember the last time I was limited on the purchase of gas. Definitely not in the last 10 or 20 years at least.
Pay with a debit card ..same as cash
Cash is king.
I have a credit card because some vendors insist on it.
Anyway I zero out my credit card on a weekly she schedule.
Current CC balance is zero.
Feels like a move, however small, by TPTB to hamper conservatives, mostly.
Truck drivers, families with large campers, small business owners.
Death by a thousand cuts.
At least these never got issued:
But I bet they're still waiting quietly in a goverment warehouse...
How many gallons do you need?
In Florida, we fill 100-200 gallon boats frequently. I’ve not had to reset the gas pump.
Drive around the block.
If you are black it is because of “systemic racism”.
I can pump all the 87 octane I want at 5.79 a gallon. Welcome to California.
