I have read that gas degrade the longer it is stored? The use of gas stabilizers is recommended. Also, gasoline with ethanol (E10 or E85) has a shorter useful life if not kept completely sealed from the outside air, as water from the air will be absorbed by the ethanol and contaminate the gasoline. Comment?

I use only ethanol free fuel in my vehicles. Subzero temperatures turn water attracted by ethanol to damaging ice. A -27F night destroyed my fuel pump.

Have had mower in shop twice this year, both times told it was due to the ethanol additive. Never used to be a problem until about a couple of years ago. I asked what a solution might be and was told buy ethanol free gas. It's a LOT higher price but going to try that.

Shop says they buy their gas for testing etc near daily so it doesn't deteriorate.

That's all I know !!
