Newly elected City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato says it won’t be easy being the first Bronx Republican to hold a City Council seat in 50 years - but she vowed to stand for conservative values like education and public safety while even working with the likes of AOC.
“It’s tough being a Republican in The Bronx,” she told The Post Wednesday. “I listened to people and they appreciated that.”
The 45-year-old health care worker said that high on her list of priorities are school choice, strengthening the NYPD and stopping a controversial halfway house in her north Bronx district.
She recognized she will have to work across the aisle - saying that even though she is the “polar opposite” of Socialist Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she would like to meet her to talk about issues as their districts partially overlap. That is if she can find her.
“I have never seen her in the community, actually,” she told The Post. “I think she needs to show more of a presence. We have an entire community that overlaps with each other. We have to make the constituents happy.
“I hope to address issues of the community she may not be aware of and give her a different viewpoint. We’re polar opposites with some of our viewpoints. But that’s ok. I want to see her more accessible to people in the community.”
The latest Board of Elections results show Marmorato beating incumbent Democrat Marjorie Velazquez by more than 700 votes - a margin of 52% to 46%.
The district covers Throggs Neck, Allerton, Morris Park, Pelham Parkway and City Island, which, like the rest of the northernmost borough, has been a Democratic stronghold for decades.
“I brought faith back into the voting system, my community,” Marmorato said. “Their voices were heard.

She’s already lost. The minute a conservative tries to work across the aisle she is already outrun and outgunned. A conservative cannot meet half way with a liberal. Liberals think like a terrorist in that they are not going to compromise unless they are getting something they would lioke and if it is more damaging to the people during the transaction, they don’t care. Liberals are not to be trusted.
The only way she is going to accomplish anything is to publicly nail the libs on any topic that is in question. They have to be exposed on each topic for both what they are trying to do and what they are getting in return for a small concession. And that means every time. No deals. Everything up front and transparent.
The last conservative politician to not take prisoners or make deals was Teddy Roosevelt. But that was 115 years ago when he left office. A lot of damage has been done since then.

My condolences, she is going to be dealing with some of the worst kind of lunatics in politics today where logic, basic common sense does not exist. Like the genius of logic AOC: “Oh a cop 1300 miles from NYC killed a perp, so lets defund the cops in NYC and institute cashless bail”
I recall when skeamer and pilousy were invited to Oval Office to “discuss” the budget. They figured they had him two to one. When they got there trump had the tv cameras set up to air their discussion. They both tripped over each other getting out the door. Libs never want their tactics aired.

You just put the pin on the map. She will never get anything passed unless the libs want it so they can add their pork. And that’s what you get trying to work with liberals. But the voters will never know it happened until after all the animals left the barn.
Trump went after the libs and he got a lot done. But unfortunately an army of one can’t win the war. And he sure as h-ll got no support from the rhinos.
