Whether in overseas matters or domestically, it is very clear that the Pentagon felt no constitutional loyalty to one particular Commander-in-Chief.
During the Trump presidency, Pentagon officials refused to follow orders, substituting their own policies over the constitutionally ordained authority of their Commander in Chief. We know that officials lied about troop strength in Syria, attempted to undermine and kill the peace initiative with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and refused to call out the military to quell civil unrest during the George Floyd riots. This is gross insubordination.
The Syria Insubordination
James Jeffrey, who was a deputy national security adviser to President George W. Bush, US ambassador to Iraq and Turkey under President Obama, and US special representative for Syria engagement under Trump, admitted to just some of the games the Pentagon was playing. After the 2020 election, he revealed that the Pentagon routinely misled President Trump into believing that the troop count in Syria was substantially lower than it was:
“We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,” James Jeffrey, US special representative for Syria engagement, said in an interview with Defense One.
When President Trump ordered the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria, it was considered controversial among members of Congress, diplomats, and the Pentagon. Ultimately, Pentagon officials convinced the President to leave 200 troops behind. According to Jeffrey, the real number was around 900.
Incidentally, Jeffrey was a signatory to the infamous “Never Trump” letter from 70 GOP security officials opposing the President...

It’s only 11:30 AM and that has already got the be the stupidest post of the day
Trump needs to make a UNIVERSAL AUDIT of the entire government a part of his platform.
Top to bottom, soup to nuts.
If it is not an enumerated power of the constitution, dismantle it, send it’s funding back to their state. Let them decide if they really want to fund research to see if shrimp can walk on a treadmill.
It’s early yet, dude. :-P
It “became” that decades ago.
For decades
You draw bizarre and unwarranted conclusions
A “woke” military will fire on the public.”
Sergeants and captains will fire on “woke” generals.
“It even goes beyond loyalty to Trump, it is lack of loyalty to our Constitution and their oaths.”
Right ... I believe every person that gets elected to office or applies for a Federal Job must swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. I wonder what percentage of them actually do ... especially politicos who win their election.
What do we do with our nuclear assets?
There are two types of nuclear assets, strategic and tactical. Theu USN and the USAF control all of the strategic nuclear weapons. The Army is entrusted with some tactical nukes. I don’t trust the Army one bit.
I was Army and had a nuclear weapons clearance, we needed the capability of dealing with the Russian hordes if they started overrunning Europe.
That US Army is gone. It is now a woke army led by thugs. Those weapons will be used on Aemricans.
LOL, you really post a lot of weird stuff.
What is weird is not keeping up. The US Army is since Obama a dangerous woke mob led by guys like Milley.
Oh, I keep up and I don’t see our kids nuking us at the Walmart anytime soon.
I can see the brass possibly ordering that in a hot civil war. Which side will you be on? Another question: If you were young again would you join this woke army?
“””I can see the brass possibly ordering that in a hot civil war.”””
That is why I said you post a lot of weird stuff.
If you did the things I did in the military you would know that lots, and lots, and lots, of experiences, adventures, fun, various man toys, and training can’t be found in civilian life, and that goes for all of the branches.
Dude, you are out of touch. Today’s Army is not the army you were in. I was in the Navy, it ain’t my Navy anymore.
I don’t know what you did in the Navy, but if someone wants to be a SEAL or land fighters on carriers, or hunt nuclear submarines they aren’t going to be able to do that working at a real estate office.
I would guess that I keep up with the military better than you do, and that I always have.
No one said anything about the changes or ignored them but you asked if I would join the Army today and to do what I used to do, yes, there are lots, and lots, and lots, of experiences, adventures, fun, various man toys, and training that can’t be found in civilian life.
