No, you tip what you want. My basic tip is $4.00-$5.00.
They expect a tip for carryout these days too.
My sister works for a restaurant and puts together the carryout orders. She totally complains about the customers that don’t tip.
And he doesn’t have to worry about it any more...
There was no shortage of Staff at any Station or Job in the Front or Back of the House at this Restaurant while We were there.
Having been in the Food Service world Myself one must deal with all kinds of problems, issues and situations that could pop up at any time. And usually do at the worst possible times. Example, I was working as a Chef at a privately owned Restaurant and Bar and someone was always late every day and it varied who and what Station be it Waitstaff/Busser/Bartender/Dishwasher or Sous Chef and at this place even the owner/manager (on too regular of occasions) so one morning I arrive at 07:00 to get the Soup of the Day, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy choices and the other Kitchen Prep done. We opened at 11:00 daily and the rest of the Crew usually showed up at the next to last possible moment. Well 11:00 comes and goes and I’m still the only one there.
The 1st Customers were a Family of 7: Mom/Dad/Grandma and 4 kids all under the age of 10 or so. And were from out of State.
It’s 11:15ish and I’m still riding solo. Thankfully the tables were prepared the night before with Condiments and rolled Flatware. I greeted and seated them and proceeded to inform them that I was the only employee there at the time and would do My best to serve the Family and proceeded to get them drinks and take their orders, make sure that their drinks were full and then I headed to the Kitchen to start the order.
Still haven’t got anyone else there when I began to serve the meal myself and to make a long story short when they left the Restaurant I was still by Myself !!! I had to make change out of My pocket, pack the leftovers for them and Bus the table.
Luckily no other Customers had come in yet and I locked the door and put up a sign saying that we would be opening later. I got on the phone and started calling people and nobody answered their phones !!! (Pre cellular phone days.) As I came out of the Kitchen My “coworkers” dragged their HUNGOVER ASSES in the door !!! Including the FREAKING owner who was a dipstick bimbo from France. Turns out that they had been partying at the owners house all night after they left the restaurant the night before.
I told that Bitch Frogwoman to give Me the money I was due and quit as soon as I got it.
On a final note the Family of 7 left a Tip of $0.00 !!!!!!!!!!
I retired from the food service business after that. I rarely go out to eat these days because I cook better than most places and don’t want to deal with it.
As a final kick in the A$$ I found out at Tax time that the frogwitch was taking out FICA/SS & Medicare and all that money from our checks but never paid in the funds to the fedz.

The is certainly extreme. I don’t blame you. I can’t imagine not leaving a very good tip.
I used to like cooking for people as a living but that situation combined with the lot of them including the owner coming in late and hungover. Adding in the Payroll match not being paid was what took the enjoyment away.
Now I cook and bake to relax.
That may be because, as he was walking away, he said FU.
The lady and her husband are somewhat disabled from an auto accident a few months ago.
She sent a copy of the video to his employer.
