Republicans damned if they do, damned if they don’t in Trump’s 2024 candidacy

Whatever their game plan, party and finances, nearly all candidates for president start with the same two challenges: First, win the nomination and then unite your party to have a shot at winning the general election.

Then there are those unlucky candidates in this year’s Republican field who face a third challenge.

By the end of this week, there will be at least seven contestants in a race to see who gets to go head-to-head with Donald Trump for the GOP crown.

But wait, there’s yet another obstacle for that lucky survivor.

If he or she manages to defeat Trump for the nomination, there is a good chance Trump will take many of his supporters and run as a third-party candidate, or tell them to stay home, dooming the GOP nominee to defeat in the general.

you and I have a vastly different version of the term “draining the swamp”....since in my version, people actually go to jail...

you and I have a vastly different version of the extent of the swamp. With a more limited swamp, law enforcement can mean something, courts can do things, legislatures can pass statutes, AG's can prosecute.

I see the swamp as much more pervasive. Every corner of society is being stressed currently, financial, courts, business, health... impeachment means nothing. jail time means nothing - inversely, jailtime is overly applied to J6 patriots.

With this view of a leviathon swamp, other means must and is being used to drain it. Mostly covert at the moment, and I expect that to change dramatically.

Ergo, hold DJT's beer...

His own words & his donors say he is but why let facts shadow your dreams.

No, that’s not true. His words and policies and record say the exact opposite, but keep spinning.
