I think the likely scenario is that Trump wins the Republican primaries but loses in the general to Biden. DeSantis performs pretty well, so he will be the frontrunner for 2028. The downside? We have to suffer four more years of Biden Administration.

How would Trump in the middle of the pandemic when he was creating a supply chain, hospital facilities and arranging to supply medical personnel from the Armed forces vetted a replacement? What credentials did he have to pick someone who was qualified. Fauci has impeccable credentials despite being an ass who had failed at every effort he had led (think AIDS).
In the middle of a crisis Trump did sideline Fauci and brig in Navarro. Trump tried to promote drug therapy rather than the “jab” but the medical hierarchy made that impossible. That’s one way to slink away rather than responding to facts. You seem to have a lot of ways to throw firebombs and avoid reasoned conversation and being exposed to unwelcomed truths.
Firstly, its a joke at this point to think anybody else is going to beat Trump. He has a historic margin. Nobody with that large of a margin has ever failed to gain the Republican nomination.
Secondly, he doesn’t have to say or do anything. A significant chunk of his voters are what Big Data Polls’ Richard Baris calls “Trump or Bust” voters...as in 30% of them. If Trump is not on the ticket, they simply won’t show up to vote. These are low propensity voters anyway so it wouldn’t be anything unusual for them.
Contrary to the RINO Establishment propaganda, Trump is not the only Republican who can lose to Biden. He is the only one who can beat Biden.

Trump has said numerous times that he would honor any fair election loss.
