Backlash Grows Over FBI Plans to Infiltrate Catholic Churches
American Greatness ^ | 17 Apr, 2023 | Eric Lendrum

As further revelations detail the extent of the FBI’s plans to send agents into Catholic churches for the purpose of infiltrating and spying on them, the bureau is now facing greater backlash from Republicans, Catholics, and FBI whistleblowers.

Just The News reports that Congressman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) released a statement reacting to the latest revelations, voicing his support for the possibility of defunding the FBI.

“This was one of the most shocking things that I’ve seen,” said Congressman Biggs on Wednesday. “When you start finding out that they were trying to actually move in, to infiltrate, etc., you go, ‘What is their purpose?’ Do they think that if you’re an orthodox, believing and practicing Catholic, somehow that’s anti-American?”

“[I]f we’re not going to totally defund it and eliminate it — and then keep only those areas that truly support state and local law enforcement — then you’ve got to do a wholesale cleaning out of the FBI,” Biggs continued.

The latest in the ongoing FBI scandal was revealed by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who explained the latest evidence in a press release. Through a series of documents handed over to the committee by the FBI after an information request, Congressman Jordan said that “the FBI relied on information derived from at least one undercover employee and sought to use local religious organizations as ‘new avenues for tripwire and source development.'”

“In light of this information and the serious consequences for the free exercise of Americans’ First Amendment rights,” Jordan’s statement continued, “Chairman Jordan issued a subpoena today to FBI Director Wray for all documents related to the FBI’s actions.”

This is only the latest confirmed instance of the FBI attempting to infiltrate and spy on Catholic churches. Earlier this year, an internal FBI memo was leaked out of the Richmond Field Office revealing that the bureau was considering designating those who attend the Traditional Latin Mass as “extremists,” and again considered planting agents within certain churches.

“The FBI was definitely not honest with the American people,” said FBI whistleblower Steve Friend on Tuesday. “This was not just a low-level analyst who was acting on their own and maybe just considering sources from one side of the political spectrum. This was something that was actually put into an operational status.”

“It involved an undercover agent and a type five assessment, which you have to understand is a recruitment tool,” Friend explained further. “It’s where you would put somebody into a parish and have them assess if anybody there might be worthy of maybe pursuing as a paid informant, or a voluntary informant.”

“The idea that the FBI is using Catholic parishes and dioceses to continue to weaponize its power against patriotic believers is indeed disturbing, but not at all surprising,” said Father Frank Pavone, the national director of Priests for Life. “What should disturb people even more is that this news is completely consistent with the behavior of many diocesan officials and Catholic bishops in the United States, and in the Vatican. They are Democrats at prayer, and radical Democrats at that.”

The FBI released a statement in response to the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena request, while refusing to specifically acknowledge the Catholic scandal.

“The FBI recognizes the importance of congressional oversight,” the spokesman said, “and remains fully committed to cooperating with Congress’s oversight requests consistent with its constitutional and statutory responsibilities.”

I am not convinced that the FBI was infiltrating to spy on the churches. I think that they were probably trying to get a few participants in an operation that was planned by the FBI as a black flag op to demonize the churches as radical organizations. Probably something similar to the Governor Whitmer kidnapping plot.

I don’t recall the fake pope condemning the fbi. Because he’s on the same side as the people who hate the Latin mass.

Conservative Methodist Churches are organizing to leave the UMC. It would be naive to believe the FBI was not infiltrating that group as well.

Sounds like believing Jesus Christ is Lord, that babies should not be sacrificed, that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that calling the depravity embraced, promoted and stuffed down our children’s throats by politicians, Hollywood, the media, school systems etc., sinful is radical.

For our Resurrection Sunday service last week, the choir at my Methodist church performed Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” (c. 1715) a choral composition from the Latin Mass. We will now have to be on the lookout for infiltrators from the FBI.

Yes, at least sort of. They don’t care about anything being “anti-American,” they only care about beating their enemies. If calling something “anti-American” helps them, then they will apply that label.

This is a huge violation of the 1st amendment clause on separation of church and state. FAR MORE so than some high school coach praying after a football game.

Just imagine an FBI agent taking the oath of office. Did he smirk and wink like Peter Strokit?

a black flag op to demonize the churches

That is entirely too plausible.

I suspect both but the black flag operation would be the prime.

I don’t really see the Catholic churches being radical, I do see them as being overtly benevolent. There’s obviously no profit or gain from benevolency by the people that they are extending charity towards.

I don’t agree with some of the benevolency as it comes with a cost, a human cost that supports criminal elements illegally migrating into this country, nor do I understand why they would condone a mass movement of humans with with the associated diseases they’re bringing, and the camouflage provided for nefarious activities such as drug smuggling in human trafficking.

Why would the Catholic church support that?

I know that a lot of Mexico and Central America was Catholic at one time, I just don’t see that presently being the case.

Are these indigents flocking to Catholic churches after they get here? Are they looking for support from Catholic missions and helping out Catholic causes?

I don’t see that either. It might have been the case in the 50s but we are far removed from the supposed innocence of that period. It’s even beyond La Raza, this is a criminal invasion that is looking for greener pastures because those criminals have wrung out everything south of the border.

Perhaps the government position is that the Catholic element of the incoming indigents could be huge, that it could be a groundswell of Catholicism? Perhaps that’s what the government is fearing, a groundswell of newly arrived Catholics. Or, the government is looking for tax fraud.

FBI will never, ever get defunded.

It would be like the Soviet Union defunding the KGB

But at least we are not yet at the point where the FBI/KGB can not be criticized.
