A woman died at the scene while another man died at the hospital. The other 11 victims were taken to three different hospitals in the Valley.
All the victims were adults, but no other information was released about their ages or conditions.
Police say the driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. It's unknown if speed or impairment played a factor.
Bicyclists on city streets are a nuisance
Tell me about it. In downtown Omaha they turned one lane just for bikes and they have their own stop lights and if you’re not paying attention in your car, you’ll see the bike lights and blow through them.
All over the road hindering cars.
Mountain biking is a much safer activity where the obstacles are mostly stationary.

[Even money that the driver was a Mexican.]

“”Bicyclists on city streets are a nuisance.””
Many, many moons ago I practically lived on my bicycle. Some years, I could actually use it for work and college (small Community College near home & work) Even on my days off, I would ride a lot. I was also getting ready to bike down the coast of Kalifornia. It takes years to build up to something like that.
In every situation, I was ALWAYS looking around for dangers, human and otherwise. I would often just get off and walk, just to be careful. I never ran a red light. I biked as far away from the traffic lanes as possible. I always wore a good helmet.
While in many situations the bicyclist has the legal right-of-way, you have no metal surrounding you, and the metal of the cars is unforgiving. One of the most fun experiences was when I was in really good shape. I would chase commuter busses on the San Francisco peninsula. El Camino Real is a street that runs from South San Francisco to San Jose. The busses have to stop when a rider wants to get on, or get off. This one time, some younger people were in the back of the bus, and there is a big back window. After they noticed I would pass them when the bus would stop for passengers, and then the bus would pass me, they started cheering, urging me on. (no, I did not try to draft, get close to the back of the bus. Just another way to get badly injured). One time, I chased a bus so far, I lost track of just how far I had biked North, and the trip home was longer than I had planned. I will never forget those kids waving and yelling ‘come on, go!’ Come to think of it, they probably yelled for the driver to go, go after I passed the bus.
How does one NOT SEE 13 RIDERS!?
Amen. And we have people on this thread automatically blaming the cyclists.
Pathetic.
Hopefully a medical issue caused it (odd thing to hope for).
Now we have those damned ‘one wheels’ zipping all over the place on main thoroughfares in East Tennessee...
It’s a large intersection with lights for all directions. Somebody blew through a red light is my guess. Could have been the truck or the cyclists.
I work with a guy like that. His attitude toward bikers and exercise is "why exercise when you can drive your truck...and run over bikers when you get the chance."
When I ride my road bike, I ride at a local state park because I know what people think of bikers (they hate them...I wonder why)?
BTW, I've been biking for over 35 years. I stay away from roads with cars.
And the other 3 haven't been diagnosed...yet.;-)
That was no city street.
Just a group of elderly people doing their weekly group bike ride beside a country highway.
“Blame the victim” is ridiculous
9W along the Hudson in NJ is apparently a heavily used bike road. Among the bikers that use it there are a LOT vicious angry assholes, especially when there is a large group like this. They will go out of their way to discommode drivers and flip them the bird while they do it. Amazed the hell out of me how nasty they were without any provocation.
The cyclists were strewn for some distance along the side of the highway
When he hit them he kept going for a while
Scene did not resemble an intersection mishap
Demented or high
