The outcry from the Left would be worth it for that alone!

It would make liberal heads explode, but it will never happen, you need 218 votes to win, the Republicans can stop any nomination with 5 votes, they’re at least 5 Never Trumpers that would vote against Trump, probably many more than 5 so it will never ever happen.

I agree with you.

Same would happen (to a slightly lesser degree) if Gingrich were named.

Difference is: Gingrich wants it, Trump does not.

Won’t happen. Every Democrat would vote no, along with more than a few Republicans. I don’t think he even got any votes in the elections thus far.

You couldn’t get 20 votes in the House for Trump.

The outcry by far too many in the GOP would be just as loud.

I think you need to reacquaint yourself with the rules section.

“Do keep "vanity" posts to a minimum - Free Republic is primarily a place to discuss news, articles, and editorials. Vanity posts, creations of the poster him or herself, should meet a high standard of quality before one is even considered worthy of posting. Often a relevant current thread or general announcement, catch-all thread is a much better choice for a brief question or comment.”

Trump definitely has the ability and the powerful personality to be Speaker if he chose to, but I think he would see it as step back or perhaps a consolation prize for having his 2nd term stolen.

Mr. Trump enjoys a good fight or board room battle every now and then, but his love of melodrama and cliffhangers may interfere with the basic functions of congress.

If he could somehow put the understandable bitterness of 2020 behind him or compartmentalize it, he could inspire great changes.
Trump would have to reach some working truce with The Turtle and try to avoid GOPe attempts to slow walk or sabotage the party.

I guess I am old school, but I think the Speaker should be a bit of a parliamentarian. Trump is many things. He is not that.

He would have to be a sitting Congressman, so, not doable. At least not now.

Stop living in a fantasy world. That’s like expecting future elections to be fair and honest.
