Sorry for the loss of life, but everything old is new again.

I remember that blizzard on the east coast, it kinda of foreshadowed Jimmah Carter.

I’m glad to see Buffalo being the snow king again.

In my youth back then, Buffalo was legendary for this. But in my adulthood seems no one talked about Buffalo anymore for blizzards.

The ten minute video is well worth watching and a time capsule of what the mid 1970s was like. An era I remember well as a teenager.

Rotary dial pay phones. Primitive graphics on the newscasts. All those super wide collars on shirts (for women too). Nurses back then all wore dresses and they were all female. As well, those telephone switchboard operators were all female and all their equipment was analog.

Interesting that during the hospital shots, they showed actual patients, some of who appeared to be near death. That would never happen today with HIPAA and all.

I can still a recall a newsclip I saw post-blizzard. Jimmy Carter sent his son to assess the situation. His son was walking on top of a huge twenty-foot drift with city officials. They asked him what he thought. He said they’ll probably need more help.

The city officials gasped and said, probably? Never heard from Carter’s son again.

IIRC, his name was Chip. Everybody remembers his drunk brother Billy.

The clothing and hair styles of the era. I was at Murray State University in Murray, Ky, at the time. I look at pictures of myself and think, “what a goober.”

I was a kid in western PA when the blizzard of '77 came through. My parents took 8mm movies of us playing in the backyard...the only problem was they double exposed the same roll of film they had used for our trip to Ocean City the previous summer.

Somewhere we still have that old roll showing us building snowmen and making igloos in our swimming trunks and building sand castles in our winter coats :)

Probably the best dramatization of 70’s news coverage was in George Romero’s 1978’s , “Dawn of the Dead”.
