26 deaths from Buffalo blizzard, as more reported after Christmas

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — At least 26 people have died during the 2022 blizzard in Western New York.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown reported numbers totaling 27 earlier Monday morning, however County Executive Mark Poloncarz later said the County Medical Examiner’s official total of storm-related deaths remains at 26 for now, as not all deaths have necessarily been related to the storm. Both Poloncarz and Mayor Brown acknowledged that number will likely go up.

Nineteen of the deaths have been confirmed in the City of Buffalo, with three in Amherst and three in Cheektowaga, one of which was in the village of Depew. Additionally, a 27-year-old man was found dead in the Town of Lockport on Sunday due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. The ages of the deceased in Erie County range in ages from 22-93.

Over the weekend, 18 storm-related deaths were confirmed across Erie and Niagara Counties. As of Monday morning, that total made the jump to 26.

“There may be more,” Poloncarz said Sunday during a storm response briefing. “I don’t want to say this is going to be it, because that would be fallacy for me to say that. Because we know there are people stuck in cars for more than two days. And there are people in homes that are below freezing now temperatures.”

More proof that Darwinism and religion co-exist.

A surprising amount of looting going on too

Something Buffalo avoided during the past feast of St. George Floyd.

The killing potential of this storm was very strongly warned about. Including by calm people you’d trust not to overstate the risk. Very, very sad that some souls were still left fatally vulnerable.

Most of the deaths were from CO poisoning. I wonder how many people got suckered into relying on cold climate heat pumps as their sole source of heat (going green) and once the power goes out, people get desperate bringing in unvented grills, etc.

In almost every natural disaster ..there will always be those that disregard sane warnings.

Otherwise, every winter.. in the NE ..there are old guys who go out and shovel their walks in freezing cold..and drop dead from a heart attack.

better to die quick on your feet than to die in your bed slow.

Exactly. If it was one or two deaths, they might let it pass or not be too critical but with this money, it would be nonstop coverage on every alphabet, Netwerk and newspaper nationwide.

I noticed that as well. Last night, I was listening to a couple, scatter feeds, and lots of reports of looting, much more than I would’ve expected, especially as you said, Buffalo fared, fairly well in the “mostly peaceful, but fiery” protests that definitely weren’t riots with Saint Floyd overdosed

So sad.

$27.50 at Walmart. Worth a lot less than a human life.

In my opinion, a big part of the issue is the media likes to hype every winter storm like it’s gonna be the worst storm in 150 years so people tend to disregard it as being sensationalized. I live in Connecticut and you’ll get similar reporting reporters scattered around the state at gas stations, grocery stores, driving around in SUVs during the storm, etc. seeing how bad it is the same for a snow storm expected to dump 4-6 inches over the course of a day versus a foot or more in a short period of time.

A long duration, but low amount storm were not expecting say, white out conditions, should just be a simple here’s how much it’s going to sell, if you have to go out, because she is, leave extra time, makes you keep some gloves, hat, full tank of gas, etc. And leave it as that

Religion yes, NOT Christianity.

Religionists follow rules ( like fascists do) but Christians follow Christ, (like lovers do)

As “Americans” become more and more dependent on the government for their survival, they find it more difficult to survive in harsh and hostile environments when the government babysitters aren’t around.
