This shot was taken a few blocks from the last place I lived in Thousand Oaks.

Local coyotes are pretty brazen these days. In the last week I know of 3 dogs attacked in separate incidents over by Millmar and Harrison in southeast Tucson. In one case a pack of coyotes with at least 3 large size Mexican wolf hybrids chased the dog out of the wash into the stables right in front of my wife. The beasts stood off a few yards away outside the paddock while the dog cowered behind my wife. Fortunately my wife’s horse took offense and charged them, sending them running.

I’m suspecting the reason they’re so brazen is because they’re getting fed, either people are feeding them, they’re eating food that’s left out, or they’re just finding pets are easy pickings.

It’s been about 15 years since I lost a beautiful little dog to those damn coyotes - she ran out to what she thought were other doggies. Later that year or maybe the next I buried what was left of a much bigger dog. He was killed and eaten not 30 feet from the house.

The coyotes are sneaky and best controlled by killing to near extinction in most places.Same for other predators .

This is the cause and effect of the extremist bleeding heart liberal PETA antifur movement. This was very rarely a problem when trapping was more common and hungry winter pack populations were thinned. And the Coyotes were healthier for it also. It was common sense management that worked. They have made it so that trapping is not even worth considering anymore. Far too restricted and regulated and they destroyed the market.

See #25. The winter packs are not being culled like they used to be.

Not surprised at all. Second only to vermin wolves.

Where I live we know what to do about them.

I pheasant hunted in rural NW Kansas a number of times and every time we flushed a coyote from some thickets, the damn things would run for nearly a half mile across the field before they would stop and briefly look back then continue running. Of course out there, they know humans are going to shoot them whenever they can.

As a side note, the owner of the farm where we stayed had a number of greyhounds and one huge greyhound/wolfhound mix that he would use to hunt the coyotes by driving the back roads.

What BS.

There is not a coyote alive that was there before humans.

They live a short life compared to a human.

Wild animals are always hungry they are on a consent search for food.

To even come close to controlling their population humans need to kill them by any means available.

Letting them have any type of protection leads to results like these.

The best method for training a coyote is high velocity lead.

Leg hold traps work well also.

The coyote must have been sick.

Another myth promoted by the pro wildlife anti human crowd.

When predators are not taught to be afraid of humans.

They see them as prey.

If they would put out automatic feeders for the poor coyotes this may not happen.
