Oregon’s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be awarding Oregon a total of $695,097 for sagebrush conservation efforts across the state. This funding will help support collaborative efforts by ranchers, growers, and agencies to improve habitat.
“Restoring and conserving Oregon’s sagebrush ecosystems can help to address the damage and dangers invasive species bring to important rangelands and habitat to promote a healthy environment and a strong economy,” said Senator Merkley, who used his position as Chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee to secure this funding in the infrastructure law.

I spent 3 hours 2 weeks ago tearing out and burning 40+++ items that were dead or dying. Half my paddock opened way up. Next door one will be marked with ribbon soon for similar cleanup.
I don’t remember giving my taxes to these dicks to squander on their pet projects.
My first thought is who is to blame for Sagebrush destruction, people? And how many illegals are in the state? Deport them, and you reduce the population significantly, which will reduce the impact on Sagebrush. A win all around.
Actually, Tumbleweeds are the final stage of a weed called Russian Thistles.
They start out very small & grow like crazy.
When they die out in fall, they pull away from the ground in the wind & go sailing around.
I pulled out & burned over 40 dead/dying sage & rabbit brush 2 weeks ago and used some rolling tumbleweeds to start the fire.
I have cleaned out tumbleweeds in years past that took days & long hours.
Burn pile took about 7 minutes to erase them.
Never knew it was endangered

I worked for a city in eastern Washington 1993 when one of their 10 million gallon water tanks faild a flushed down the hillside wiping out several hundred okd growth sagebrush plants (trees?). The city had to pay a $40,000 fine to the DNR
Exactly, called ground fuel for forrest fires. Next big forrest fire will be blamed on climate change instead of stupid forestry management
$700,000 is nothing. It is only salaries for regulators and the start of a restrictive agency (Which will need more$).

Greater Sage-Grouse. Sage Grouse is a more common term for the same bird. I’ve never heard of your Sagebrush Grouse. Is that a regional name for the same bird?
