Gotta protect the tumble weeds.

Actually, Tumbleweeds are the final stage of a weed called Russian Thistles.

They start out very small & grow like crazy.

When they die out in fall, they pull away from the ground in the wind & go sailing around.

I pulled out & burned over 40 dead/dying sage & rabbit brush 2 weeks ago and used some rolling tumbleweeds to start the fire.

I have cleaned out tumbleweeds in years past that took days & long hours.

Burn pile took about 7 minutes to erase them.

Different species. IIRC, Russian Thistles, aka tumble weeds came over here from Russia in flax seed shipments back in the late 1800s. So blame the Ruskies for that.

I’m reasonably certain that sage brush isn’t endangered.
