We need this technology applied to taxation, gov’t spending and Inflation, not vehicles.
Of course the cities will never go for it, because there goes their biggest source of revenue.
Literally only purpose for this is to control people and the added bonus of killing more.
A horribly bad idea, though rare I absolutely have been in situations where speeding up prevented an accident.
Plus this technology is grunted to always have failures, All technology does. Just imagine the damage from cars suddenly stopping on freeways and all the accidents to follow.
Then, the car says,
“Warning citizen. You have traveled over your allotted monthly mileage limit set by your government. This car will proceed back to your domicile utilizing the most direct routing. A surcharge of $25/mile over your monthly allotment will be drafted from your account. Expect a visit from the Transportation Department soon to rectify your travel behavior.”
No. Just no. Eff’n control freaks need to be dispatched.
This is about safety the same way CoupFlu policy is about public health.

Autonomous cars will be their dream.
You will not own a vehicle. You will have a subscription.
When you need a vehicle, you call for one similar to an Uber.
You tell them what you need (pickup for hauling, just a ride, or a minivan for the whole family).
Vehicle shows up, collects you and takes you to your destination. There will be no steering wheel.
All vehicles will speak with each other and the infrastructure (traffic lights, road signs, etc) and traffic will flow smoothly.
Of course, they will know your movements every step of the way....but they know that now if you carry your mobile phone with you.
Someone (cough, cough, not me) will hack the system and then tell the cop they were only going as fast as the car allowed and didn’t need to check the posted limits because the car takes care of that. What’s the point of having a computer if you can’t hack it and make it do what you want?
Those fancy electric cars doing zero-to-sixty in 1.3 parsecs will be deploying the airbags at 61mph.
I would hate to have a very long trip at 45 MPH 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh and what about speeding ticket revenue? What will small towns do?

1984 was fiction and never thought possible since there was no technology to make it work. Well today in 2022 the governments have the technology to make 1984 into reality.
Will they use it to control people, of course they will.
