Mouthwashes may suppress SARS-CoV-2 (Low concentration cetylpyridinium chloride)
Medical Xpress / Hokkaido University / Scientific Reports ^ | Oct. 6, 2022 | Ryo Takeda et al

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is an airborne disease transmitted via aerosols, which are spread from the oral and nasal cavities—the mouth and the nose. In addition to the well-known division and spread of the virus in the cells of the respiratory tract, SARS-CoV-2 is also known to infect the cells of the lining of the mouth and the salivary glands.

Commercially available mouthwashes contain a number of antibiotic and antiviral components that act against microorganisms in the mouth. One of these, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), has been shown by a team of researchers led by Professor Kyoko Hida to reduce the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in the mouth, primarily by disrupting the lipid membrane surrounding the virus. While there are other chemicals with similar effects, CPC has the advantage of being tasteless and odorless.

The researchers were interested in studying the effects of CPC in Japanese mouthwashes. Mouthwashes in Japan typically contain a fraction of the CPC compared to previously tested mouthwashes. They tested the effects of CPC on cell cultures that express trans-membrane protease serine 2 (TMPRSS2), which is required for SARS-CoV-2 entry into the cell.

They found that, within 10 minutes of application, 30–50 µg/mL of CPC inhibited the infectivity and capability for cell entry of SARS-CoV-2. Interestingly, commercially available mouthwashes that contain CPC performed better than CPC alone. They also showed that saliva did not alter the effects of CPC. Most significantly, they tested four variants of SARS-CoV-2—the original, alpha, beta and gamma variants—and showed that the effects of CPC were similar across all strains.

This study shows that low concentrations of CPC in commercial mouthwash suppress the infectivity of four variants of SARS-CoV-2. Future work will also focus on fully understanding the mechanism of effect, as lower concentrations of CPC do not disrupt lipid membranes.

This has been known for awhile about normal strength antiseptic mouthwashes, but this ultra-low concentration cetylpyridinium chloride form wasn’t supposed to work.

The FLCCC team of doctors have said to use such mouthwashes, since the COVID era began.

I believe Scope makes the type of mouthwash that helps prevent the Kung Flu. Nose spray as well. There is a brand from Isreal I use that is very effective preventing the Kung Flu or knocking it out sooner if it gets into your nasal passages.

Just a note. The FLCC protocol recommends gargling with the CPC mouthwash for 30 seconds to get the full effect onto the tonsils and back of the throat. I’ve been doing this since I read about it on their site along with taking zinc and quercetin. So far, I’m still a superdodger.

Vit D3 and Niacin as well.

I am a “super dodger” as well with huge anti-body numbers per the IGG tests I’ve taken.

Thanks- assuming you’re not being sarcastic.

I would also assume there are many more like me out there- even ones who foolishly took 3 or 4 jabs (I am jab free).

Talk about a day late .... over a thousand of them. It took nearly three years for the Mengele Death Cult to finally admit it. Well only another three years for them to admit HCQ, Ivermectin and Budesonide work better than any of the clot shots.

Early on during the plandemic my mom heard about mouthwash being effective. She was faithful in using it a couple times a day and never got WuFlu. Of course, she may have escaped Covid without it, but there you have it, FWIW.

This has been known here since 2020. I use a Crest version. Also PVP iodine swab my nose. You can get them from CVS or you can make a nasal spray. It is so messy that I just use a swab in my car after a medical appointment

Have’t had COVID yet but I am also not out in the public working a daily job getting exposed to it.

1% betadine solution gargling is a good idea.
Buy the 10% betadine and dilute 10x

That’s oddly nauseating!

I thought she used the Lisarine brand.

Supply chain disruptions?

I’ll be willing to bet that no one has done a study to determine whether cigar and cigarette smokers have a lower incidence of COVID infection. Like ivermectin, people might discover that Marlboro’s are more effective than Pfizer.
