What a terrible story. I used to hear how soldiers had to fight in Afghanistan with ridiculous restrictions. If you’re going to put them in a hellhole, let them fight like hell to win. Otherwise, what’s the point of being there.

Along comes Desert Storm and our people are really impressed by Schwarzkopf.
Our people trusted our generals and admirals. They even admired them.
They did not closely examine them or the culture that produced them.
Couple that with arrogant and ignorant politicians like Pat Schroeder, and you have a real mess.

At one time Donald Trump was singing praises of James Mattis, calling him “the real deal”. Mattis was Trump’s choice, not someone Mitch McConnell forced him to select.

Right. And I really don’t want to hear how Trump was forced to pick Mattis, or anyone else. The buck stops at the Oval Office.
Trump didn’t do very well when it comes to making appointments. Should he decide to run again, I hope he will address this problem. Let us know it won’t happen again.
