I stopped reading when I got to the words, “Beechwood Bonanza.”. The lazy author of this piece couldn’t even get the aircraft manufacturer correct.
Rock writers today ain’t Lester bangs
Can you please let us not familiar with it to us what kind of plane it was? Thanks
Beechcraft
Dion Dimucci is still making truly great music, if u like Blues Rock....two recent CD’s Blues with Friends and Stompin Ground....both are a who’s who of Rock Gods and fantastic.
Beechcraft is the corrected name; however I read recently that it was a lowly Cessna 172, with a pilot not certified for instrument flying.
It wasn’t a 172, it was a Model 35 Bonanza with N-number N3794N:

They were going to play at the Moorhead Armory. Many college dances were held there. Students from Concordia college were they in good numbers. The college did not allow dances to be held on campus. I went to a tri-college dance as a freshman in 1967.
Yeah, the pilot wasn’t Iowa’s best. Young and inexperienced.
Wasn’t this the famous ‘The day the music died” from American Pie?
My Mom played doubles tennis with Holly’s widow, Maria Elena, back in the 70’s in Dallas.

Hmm, this writer must have consulted Fauxi on the causes of the flu.
In addition, he had most likely misread the altitude indicator, which was different than the one on which he had trained, and inadvertently brought the plane down instead of up.
Didn't he mean to write "attitude indicator?"
CAB report says Beech Bonanza, model 35.
The report is still available on line.
Big Bopper? I thought that was Hunter Biden’s nickname.
