Have you got less than 4GB of RAM?

How can I determine how much RAM my computer has?

Is this pertinent info included on the Manufacturer's Plate?

Regards,

“Not slow but refuses to let me access common sites such as wikipedia and others saying it is “unsafe “ The peoblem only came up a few weeks ago. Dictionary.com is also a site saying it is unsafe. Something is not right.”

* * * * * * * * *

Perhaps Wikipedia has become unsafe. Since it leans so far to the left, it may fall over and take one’s computer with it.

Brave works fine for me. I've been using it for about 11 months, something like that. I also give a test ride to the DuckDuckGo security browser back about 11 months ago. DuckDuckGo at that time was a no-go for me simply because it did not have a favorites function that would bookmark websites into folders.

If what you're experiencing is a Brave issue, my guess is that you are experiencing some crappy websites that are blocking Brave directly because of its ad blocker function. Most sites that do this post a banner asking you to turn off the ad blocking but some don't. In addition, occasionally some webpages have screwy graphics or other code that can cause a page to not load. Frankly, when I have observed this, I pat the Brave browser on the head and tell it good job and thanks for defending my system.

If you're chronically experiencing freeze up’s, my experience is this is more likely to be a wonky internet, Wi-Fi or cell connection. It’s not uncommon to need to reboot to break out of this.

Are you also using a VPN? I use Firefox and often can't access common sites, until I turn off my VPN. Many common sites, such as Amazon and IMDB, don't like VPNs.

How can I determine how much RAM my computer has?

There are several ways. One way is to download a free copy of CCleaner. When you run it, it will tell you how much RAM you have in its upper right corner.

You should use CCleaner (stands for cookie cleaner) in any event. I use it to erase cookies whenever I'm finished browsing. It also cleans up your registry file, and has a few other maintenance features.

You screwed something up in Brave. That is not normal behavior.

On your computer, open Brave.
At the top right, click Menu (3 stripes) → Settings
At the bottom, click Additional Settings.
Linux, and Mac: Under Reset Settings, click Restore settings to their original defaults Reset Settings.
Windows: Under Reset and cleanup, click Restore settings to their original defaults

See if that fixed it.

If not, completely uninstall and reinstall.

Open File Explorer.
In the tree structures in the left sidebar find “This Computer”; right-click on it and pick “Properties.”

You’ll get a window with several bits of basic information about your computer, including the amount of installed RAM.

It blocks ads (and optionally scripts). Some websites refuse to load with ad blocking software engaged. I bet if you switch to “Shields Off” the site loads.

Depending on which version of Windows you’re using, either hit control/alt/delete and click Task Manager, or hit the Windows icon and search for Task Manager. Go to whatever tab you’ll have that shows your hard drives, ethernet, CPU, etc. Your RAM should be somewhere in there.

This^^^ A lot of “woke” sites have now gone full unsafe with 3rd party tracking and fingerprinting “Cross Script” connections. The browser is obviously blocking these as it should.

It’s working fine for me. Right now I have 42 tabs open. It might be that your computer is not very powerful...

"How many tabs do you have open?"

I only have 206 tabs open on this Firefox browser with multiple tab rows. 6 more browsers running also with tabs. Organization, speed and efficiency, thanks be to God!

Brave is an excellent browser. Sounds like you need to clear your history and adjust your privacy settings to stop beacons from loading.
