Hiker has ‘no doubt’ he encountered Brian Laundrie on Appalachian Trail

A Florida engineer is adamant he spoke with Brian Laundrie on a deserted road near the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina on Saturday morning.

Dennis Davis’ alleged encounter with the boyfriend of slain Long Island native Gabby Petito comes as police receive tips that Laundrie may be traversing the trail, the world’s longest footpath.

“There is no doubt in my mind I spoke to Brian Laundrie — none whatsoever,” Davis, 53, said.

“Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter sent me an audio file of Brian’s voice and the voice was the same I heard.”

A lost and dazed man allegedly waved down Davis on Waterville Road, where the Appalachian Trail runs nearby the border of North Carolina and Tennessee.

Article makes him sound a bit out of it. Why would he head for California? He’d be more likely to be recognized there.

That was my take, and it argued for him not being on Egmont Key for long. Any fishing would have exposed him to boat traffic, and fresh water was problematic. This guy’s a camper. A small wood-burning stove and mess kit, fishing gear, maybe water filtration, and he could hold out in the right area for a while. Not sure how he’ll pay for gas if he sticks with the truck. Panhandling, maybe. I stil wonder about the possibility of getting lost in an urban homeless environment. He probably wouldn’t like it.

“We’ll find bigfoot first.”

Dogman Encounters episode, I forgot which one nut it’s one of the best ever. On App. Trail: ex pec ops guy, encountering a werewolf, goes back, calls his other ex spec ops guy, waist for it, gets attacked by multiple of these creatures and after the bloodbath, goes after it’s blood trail.

That’s where he was supposedly seen...Waterville is a mountain [ or so] away from Hot Springs.

Curious tho...if the guy is so familiar with th AT, why would he seem to be disoriented, etc.

Dehydration will do it. So will a lack of sleep.

Did the hiker have a smartphone with him?

The whole article is stupid. Everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame including this guy. They weren’t on the trail, they were both in cars on a road. Who is going to ask somebody else how to get all the way across the country uing back roads. I couldn’t tell somebody how to get across the state I live in using back roads unless I looked at a map.

Laundrie is pretty recognizable. He can't just hike along a busy trail. I imagine he spends many hours a day just off the trail in areas that won't attract others. If not already, he will eventually have to spend the nighttime hours stealing from others to survive.

If he is on the AT then I predict capture within a month from now.

The area in question except for the interstate exit is pretty remote. The AT follows the road that comes out of Del Rio for a couple of miles near the top of the mountain best I recall. It’s been a few years since I went up there. The Waterville Exit last time I was there is a big nothing not even a convenience store. If word in those parts gets out that he is there the smartest thing for his own safety would be to surrender. Cocke County, Tn which is basically where this is atcan be pretty rough and the locals know their mountains far better than he would. I think it’s B.S. There’s too much foot traffic on the AT plus following the trail like I said puts him literally walking the road. That mountain is steep. Look up Max Patch, TN that is the area in question.

I worked with an avid AT hiker.
He traveled crazy light and used packages pre-sent to target locations along the way.

I don’t know what type of ID is need to pick up your package, but that could be worked out.

Fresh phone, cash, and socks every week or so, even a new ID for the next drop.

Smart move. This time of year less traffic on the trail, numerous points for food and shelter.

Yep. I sort of believe this guy. Maybe it wasn’t Laundrie, but he believes that it was. Taking in to account his job, stability, what kind of life he has built makes him a very credible person. It would make sense that Laundrie had a vehicle and is not just on foot. He easily could have driven that 700 miles. He loves the Appalachian trail according to family and friends. He is trying to get to Cali by using only back roads and he seemed confused. It’s credible. This whole theory that he is wandering around on foot has always seemed wrong to me. It makes more sense to me that his parents or sister would hook him up with a vehicle. Much safer for him. The FBI should have checked this tip out ASAP. It seems they have done some stupid mistakes in this case. I hope this wasn’t another one by not taking this tip serious.

Since I took the time to read the article, I can say yes he did.

Davis did not immediately recognize the man as the fugitive until he pulled over and looked up photos of the outlaw on his phone.
