Pilot notices several other sharks during flight
A surfer in Volusia County had a close call with a shark while “hanging 10″ off Ponce Inlet.
A drone pilot shared video with News 6 showing the close encounter on Monday.

The coastal areas from Melbourne to West Palm happens to be the largest shark breeding habitat in the world. They pretty much leave their shark appetites out in the deep. They are all there to make shark babies and then go back out to sea.
The coast off Ventura, Calif is a Great White pupping area, but no one ever sees one.
Meh. A guy I went to college with grew up in Winter Park, used to go surfing at New Smyrna / Ponce Inlet years ago, like 45 +/-. Surfing with 6-7’ sharks was part of the deal.

I was going to say- this probably happens all the time..I remember one time in Cocoa Beach where we have condos, seeing three small sharks in shallow water swimming in a circle- people were in the water fishing nearby...
If you’re in the ocean, you’re swimming with sharks. I have witnessed a 10 foot hammerhead grab a fish off of somebody’s line at the end of pier. One hundred yards on the other end of the pier there were dozens of people swimming. You could see baby hammerheads frequently just a few feet off the beach. And it’s not just sharks. I saw a guy jump off the pier and a huge stingray swam out from under him. He said he landed on it. There’s a lot of stuff out there that will hurt you but it rarely ever does. Take a look at this:

I’ve gone diving with sharks. My first thought is, what type? The wobbegong shark I’ve seen and the epaulet shark just really did not want me bothering them. They were absolutely not interested. Shoot, that dive I saw the epaulet also had a barracuda cruising through. That wasn’t interested either.
If you’re going to look at the negatives of a thing, you won’t have any adventures.

I walked into the surf at Cocoa Beach and a giant stingray came out of the sand under me. It just swam slowly ahead while I ran like heck.
