Need recommendations for a good/great walking shoe.
Go to a running store to get fit properly. I like Brooks shoes.
Skechers archfit are pretty damn comfortable.
I just got a new pair of New Balance Fresh Foam Trail shoes. They are wide, cushioned, and made in the US.
I’d probably go see a podiatrist and see what he recommends for your situation.
Just make sure you break them in, Get a Comfort Insole, Why you are breaking them in, be careful tying the shoe laces if walking more than 2 miles.
Not a bad move to buy some used ones if you can find them.
Nike lasts me years. Today I was walking through a department store and saw walking boots but at closer look they were actually Nike sneakers.
Once you find what you want go here to buy:

I have a pair of 'Nunn Bush' slip-on shoes that look like dress shoes but they feel weightless and have comfort gel soles and are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.
Not into the over-priced (pay for a logo) type shoe, maybe go for Skechers or something. My Nunn Bush's were a gift so I don't know the cost.

+1
Try as many one as you to see what feels good, doesn’t, etc.
If you are going to just do pavement, I like ASICS. Brooks aren’t bad either. But it depends on your foot and arch. My wife really loves On’s and wears them just about every day of the week.
For off-road, I like Salewa, or even Garmont whenever I can find them.
Also important, don’t skimp on socks. I highly recommend Bridgedales above all others. Especially since they are merino wool.
If you have an REI nearby, they have a really good return policy if the pair you select ends up not feeling right.
New Balance Wide, cloth tops for walking and leather for semi dressup.
Walking, not jogging? Knapp!
That’s a choice only you can make.
Somewhere in your hometown there’s at least one shoe store that specializes in running and walking shoes, with people who know shoes and feet. It’s almost certainly not a corporate store or a mall store.
Go there and ask them to help you choose a shoe, proper socks (that is to say, synthetic running/walking socks) and other items you might need.
Also while you’re out shopping you might pick up something to keep the rottweilers away. Different question, different story.
Good luck!
