The creators of “South Park” made a major announcement this morning during a conversation with Gov. Jared Polis – they’re in the process of buying Casa Bonita.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have said that they wanted to buy the iconic restaurant in the past, but the owner had reported that he was focused on reopening and not looking to sell at the moment.
“As of about an hour ago, pending bankruptcy proceedings that have to happen in a couple of months, we’ve come to an agreement with the owner and we bought it,” Stone said.

How cool is that!? Loved this place when I was a kid. Lots of good memories.
The other one was Red Top hamburgers in Springs. Big as a dinner plate! Is that place still around.

We went there once, it was weird. They have south park figures in various places.
Every Mexican restaurant should have cliff divers... It helps with the digestion.
I hope they don’t go all “Politically Correct-Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream” about it, and start selling only to specific select groups.
My family and I went there back in the 90s while in Denver for a combination work & family trip. It was certainly a unique experience. Of course, it was a chain with other locations but I don’t think any approached the Denver location in visual appeal. I know a lot of people here in Tulsa will seize upon this with the hope of the local restaurant being brought back to life.
Been there. Quite possibly the worst Mexican food I’ve had and Denver is a town where you can get great Mexican food.
Yes, I know people didn’t go there for the food necessarily but it seemed as if they made an effort to make the food bad.
One must say, this is a good match.
Frozen TV dinners were better. The sopapillas were fresh mad and good. Kids loved the place, though.
Get them to reopen the one in Tulsa.
Food kind of sucked but it was a neat place.
Ours opened in the 70’s.
Kind of an icon for bad food fast.
