16-Year-Old Creates Incredible Image of the Moon Using 50,000+ Photos: ‘It Almost Killed My Laptop’
The Epoch Times ^ | June 13, 2021 | Louise Bevan

An incredibly detailed image of the Moon was composed by an Indian teen, who captured 55,000 images—racking up over 186 gigabytes on his laptop in the process—for a pastiche of celestial proportions.

Sixteen-year-old Prathamesh Jaju from Pune, Maharashtra, shared his HDR (high-dynamic range) image of a waning crescent moon on Instagram. He admitted that amassing so many photos for his most detailed and clearest picture to date put his technology to the test. “[It] almost killed my laptop with the processing,” he said.

The amateur astrophotographer began the project by capturing multiple videos of different small sections of the Moon in the early hours on May 3. Each video contains around 2,000 frames; the trick was to merge and stack the videos to create one image, while layering them to generate a three-dimensional effect.

“So I took around 38 videos,” Jaju explained, News 18 reported. “Now we have 38 images. We sharpen each one of them manually and then stitch them together in Photoshop, like a big mosaic.”

That’s not a Moon, it’s a Space Station.

I can’t believe he manually stitched them together in Photoshop. There are excellent processing tools to do that work.

Sounds like this kid is going somewhere (probably to the USA). I’m glad he found better things to do that put stupid videos on TikTok.

"An incredibly detailed image of the Moon was composed by an Indian teen"

Evidently in India, they have a different type of "teen" than we do.

“Impressive kid.”

Yes. I suspect most of our kids can beat v-games quickly, can text fast and have made YouTube videos.

Asians have always had a fetish about academics when they discovered American education.

TONS of Asians used to come here for post HS and graduate education, but not so much now.

They STILL focus on education.

My eighteen y.o. Filipino nephew is in 1st year college for engineering.

Mama and Papa both indoctrinate him with, "You will have all the time., money and talent to get the most beautiful girl, expensive house and car AFTER you get your degree and a high paying job."

Melvin Saint obeys Papa and Mama.

I suspect most of our kids can beat v-games quickly,

My dental hygienist has two kids enrolled at Albion College here in Michigan. One has a track scholarship and the other one, believe it or not, has a scholarship for Computer Gaming.........

And to top it off, the gaming scholarship is paying more than the track scholarship.......

Moon mining could be quite lucrative.

I thought I’d see more in my life time but leftists have slowed progress.

My parents raised me the same way. Education and a strong work ethic are some of the keys to success.

I raised my kids the same way.

I’m trying to slow down my 21 year old. He is finishing his Bachelor’s and wants to go to law school. His girlfriend never went to college and is only interested in being his girlfriend and eventually his wife.

I told him not to fish in that pond until he was an attorney with a good paying job and get a prenuptial agreement.
