Conservative commentator Dan Bongino will be joined by former President Donald Trump on Monday during Bongino’s first national radio broadcast, as he attempts to help fill the void left behind by late radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh, who passed away from lung cancer in February, of course, can never be replaced.
But in the absence of his booming voice and towering intellect, many conservatives seeking some semblance of normality on the radio while they drive or work are in need of a boost.
Limbaugh’s old time slot, Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET, will become Bongino’s beginning on May 24.
The announcement was first made by Cumulus Media’s Westwood One in mid-March.
Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, announced on his website that he would christen his new program with a familiar face, and a former frequent Limbaugh guest — the country’s 45th president.
“The Dan Bongino radio show launches next Monday on May 24th, and will air Monday-Friday from 12PM-3PM ET. Former President Donald Trump will be show’s first guest,” Bongino noted.
“The show will take the three-hour slot formally held by the late great Rush Limbaugh in markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. A radio station locator will be available here on Bongino.com when the show is live to assist anyone who needs help finding a way to listen,” the host added.
Limbaugh was the undisputed king of radio, and was honored by Trump last year for his unforgettable career with the Presidential Medal of Freedom during the State of the Union address. In a surprise, former first lady Melania Trump adorned the host with the medal in front of the entire country.
“Here tonight is a special man, beloved by millions of Americans who just received a stage four advanced cancer diagnosis. This is not good news, but what is good news is that he is the greatest fighter and winner that you will ever meet,” Trump said.
“I am proud to announce tonight that you will be receiving our country’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” the former president added.
Trump later guest-hosted Limbaugh’s program one day last fall while the host was out. Following the radio legend’s death, Trump remembered him fondly while speaking with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“Rush was so great, and it was something very special to know him. A very, very terrific man,” Trump said. “He could just talk for three hours, no phone calls, no anything, just talk and everybody found it spellbinding.”
Limbaugh’s passing left a void not just in radio, but in the hearts of his loyal listeners — including the former president.
With Trump as his inaugural guest on Monday, Bongino will attempt to lead talk radio, which was near-extinct until Limbaugh revived it in the late 1980s, ringing in a new era for conservatives.

If Dan Bongino is smart, and I think he mostly is:
Dan will clearly state on his first show:
“I am happy to be here, we’re gonna have a great show today, but in no way do I consider myself a ‘replacement for Rush Limbaugh’. There can be no true replacement, as Rush was one of a kind.”
A little humility and respect will serve Dan well as he tests the waters as a national host.

Bongino will appear on some Cumulus stations, which are only a small portion of the EIB network.
He has already made that statement a few times on his podcast. He knows he is no Rush Limbaugh.
I can’t wait. I rearranged a medical appointment tomorrow so I could hear Bongino’s first show.
With a very different style from Rush, Dan Bongino is a great thinker, and I enjoy listening to his shows.

I’m addicted to Bongino’s podcast but his style is very different than Rush’s. Dan is way more intense.

As I have stated previously, when Rush passed I began archiving the decades of podcasts. I happened to hit ‘play’ on an August 2007 podcast. It is before the 2008 primaries, and Billary is the agreed-upon front runner ‘no one can touch her’ candidate. Obambi is just a babbling bozo at this time..... Well.. I have been listening consecutively and now listening to the week before Thanksgiving 2007. There are many factors that make the podcasts relevant to today. Rush always relates most things to the timeless subjects we all care about so deeply: truth, justice, honor, love, freedom, and on and on.
Many of the same creeps (Pelousy, Schumer etc.) are still around today.
SloJo is a part of the mix, but every one knows, then, in 2007, and today, that SloJo does not have any chance without truck loads of fraudulent ballots.
By Thanksgiving 2007 Billary’s massive lead in the polls is starting to crack. Obambi has not started to surge yet, and I am so looking forward to Rush’s Operation Chaos, in which Rush pushes the Billary candidacy to keep Billary in the race, and keep/make the race interesting longer.
There are many hours where Rush is simply on fire, operating on all cylinders. Every hour is a gem. I, of course, remember we cannot call him, but I know he hears us. At this point he still broadcasts from New York a few times a year. Eventually he will completely separate himself from New York, and eliminate the phrase ‘The Southern Command’ (to describe his Florida studio) from his vernacular. To the end the New York State taxing authorities went after Rush for any dimes and nickels he ‘might’ have earned in New York. He sometimes stated he had to prove he was NOT in New York to these creepozoid, leftist tax collectors. Well, soon we will be listening to Rush on Thanksgiving week 2007, and we will look forward to, as we always have, to The Real Story of Thanksgiving. If you have not read and listened to it, go right now and find it. Our founders knew many, many, moons ago that communism and collectivism were evil.
I’ve already heard Dan say essentially that.
He isn’t intense as Michael Savage.
