Martin Bashir has issued an apology to Princes William and Harry but said he “loved” their mother and insisted that his notorious TV interview with her was not damaging.
Bashir’s comments, made to the Sunday Times, came after William and Harry slammed him and the BBC after a report about the infamous 1995 sit-down came out last week, the Sun reported Saturday.
“I never wanted to harm Diana in any way and I don’t believe we did,” Bashir told the Times.
“Everything we did in terms of the interview was as she wanted, from when she wanted to alert the palace, to when it was broadcast, to its contents … My family and I loved her.”
Bashir denied, however, that he tricked Diana into doing the interview by misleading her.

What I’m not getting is why are the British all of a sudden so re-outraged about Bashir, some 25 years later?
People have been calling him a sleazy reporter for years. Maybe there was some recent documentary on Netflix, a cable network I don’t watch.
“An official statement released Thursday lambasted Martin Bashir, whom Dyson said duped Diana into giving the interview by using fake documents, including mocked-up bank statements that purported to show palace staff being paid for stories about her.”

This was a terrible thing to do to Diana.
If someone put Bashir and the Beeb up to this, which I suspect, the real target may be whoever that is.
The story is being choreographed into the "news" to draw attention to Diana's view on the evil in the royal family (they shunned her as a result, and ordered her murder).
The BBC found out shortly after the 1995 interview that Bashir had lied and been deceitful in his attempts to get the Diana scoop and they conducted an internal inquiry but hid the results. They were ratted out by a whistle-blower last year. The BBC is also in hot water for rehiring him after the Palin incident, not because of Palin but because they knew he should have been fired because of his unethical behavior in 1995 and they not only kept him on, they brought him back.

Those sound like the tactics of Dan “Fake But Accurate” Rather.
Of course he’s a dirtbag but the press had nothing to do with dirtbag Diana’s death.
That was one of my suspicions too.
Meanwhile, I wish Sarah Palin would stay out of the group drawing more attention to the Bashir bashing.
This is not going to turn into anything positive for her.
Sarah was unfairly treated by many, many professionals while at the top of her fame.
Bringing up Bashir will not produce a raindrop of empathy from the Liberals.
The interview was in 1995. Diana died in 1997. How you managed to make a connection between the Bashir interview and her death.....
Exactly. And she was a selfish attention addict who cared more about
having a party life than she did about her children.
I don’t pay attention to celebrity or entertainment news, but I’m wondering if there’s a movie coming out about her which makes them want to get her name out in the public again.
Journalists lie.
He’s just another media maggot anything for a story award to follow.
Sarah Palin was scorched
Sarah Palin made poor choices for money....I understand that lure
And she teased the piss pit of us
A could have been
Man this forum was gonzo over her...me included for a while admittedly
Now I'm wondering if the Beeb was used by the Palace and/or the UK's Deep State in a plot to get rid of Diana...
