Texas just sent out thousands of waivers on re-payment of overpayment of Covid unemployment payments
Can't reveal... | 27 April 2021 | Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin

The State of Texas just sent out letters giving waivers to individuals who were having to re-pay overpayment of Covid unemployment payments made some months back. Many of the payments were about half paid when, suddenly, no more money is due.

Wonder if the media is going to cover this giveaway of taxpayer money? Wonder if the media is going to cover any truth any more?

I have been wondering for months how in the world the powers that be are able to keep the Kingdom of Oz functioning on nothing but a facade with no substance. It is blowing my mind.

Texas may be a conservative state, but Democrat Socialists are in government there behind the scenes running things.

‘re-payment of overpayment of Covid unemployment payments’

That’s a mouthful.

That annoys me beyond belief. My wife was unemployed here in Florida for what was to be about a third of the remaining year beginning in April 2020. That was on top of a pay cut. So the benefits began piling up...state unemployment a miserable low of 275 plus the fed largess of 600. The irony was once on, it was virtually impossible to get off. She found that out when after two weeks furlough she was called back to full time work, sans the pay cut. Of course, she immediately notified the state whom continued to send benefits. Finally she got them to stop so she then calculated the overpayment and sent in a repay. (I told her to keep meticulous records so I know she payed back the exact amount due). Then comes the year end 1099 showing the full amount she got with no offset for repayment. Our refund has been in limbo since Feb 10th as I assume they are trying to hash out why we show one amount and the records show something else. Trying to get through to find out what is up is like trying to pry info out of NSA.

Exactly correct. LOTS of very liberal running the agencies and want their particular agency to increase in numbers/dollars for their future control.

The peace of the day is that God sees ALL illegal gains that we take and are taken by those who get a buzz that they have gained the system. They are just robbing taxpayers and their future.

Texas is dealing with massive fraud in the system. As usual, the fix is to make is almost impossible for those who qualify to get money.

Doesn’t make sense. You have to actually manually certify each week to continue to get unemployment.

No certification, no benefits.

So the state benefits should have been cut off automatically
Once she did not certify.

Actually, Colorado and other states have huge problems with their new broken unemployment systems - all built by Indian scumbags from Deloitte and HCL (Hindustan Computers Limited) Technologies, doing the reprogramming in India.

You would think state governments would hire Americans to do the jobs needed.

Same with Colorado. They are making everyone verify their identity with id.me. So no late-model smartphone, no benefits for you. No postpaid plan, no benefits for you (they verify the cell number is yours through the mobile provider, and that number better be listed on your credit report). And the wait times can be a days-long on hold to wait for a “trusted referee”. Close the wait screen and you start the process all over.

Oh yeah. It took me three days to jump through that hoop. All because they decided they didn't like the way the pic of my SS card looked. I'm a self-employed contractor who pays taxes quarterly. So, when I saw there was covid money for those who could show a loss in work caused by covid, I jumped on it. I applied and showed the loss, so I qualified for payments. Though, where I live was never really locked down, my particular income took a hit. It helped get our lives back to normal.

Though, the workforce commission is constantly making it difficult to impossible to get payments. You're correct. If you aren't rich enough to own a late model smartphone and computer, and have high speed internet, you're screwed. I guess I could change my name Jimanez from Guatemala and/or send in a non-white picture of myself. That might make it easier for me.

They waived the certifications due to the number of unemployment claims and the fact the state system was overwhelmed. It was a disaster here.

That has been true for a long time. Many democrat politicians here know that they can't get elected as a democrat, so they pretend to be 'republicans' during campaigns.

If they didn’t, it would be 6 months or longer to receive anything. Oh yeah, bootstraps and 1 year savings as harped on here. 45% of Americans save nothing and 75% don’t have $1000 saved. 88% have less than 5000 saved

I know why they did it. The result to us was we kept getting checks we were NOT entitled too. Given how texas is handling their issue in not seeking repayments where warranted, would we have been justified in keeping ours? Not by my ethics. We made the refund and paid the price by having our refund delayed due to wrong numbers fed to the IRS by the state. I am also aware of the number of people with no savings. That more than rarely is people spending more than they make and expecting the government to bail them out. Wait till bidet gives his “family” plan tonight for insight to how fast we are headed to financial hell.
