‘re-payment of overpayment of Covid unemployment payments’
That’s a mouthful.

That annoys me beyond belief. My wife was unemployed here in Florida for what was to be about a third of the remaining year beginning in April 2020. That was on top of a pay cut. So the benefits began piling up...state unemployment a miserable low of 275 plus the fed largess of 600. The irony was once on, it was virtually impossible to get off. She found that out when after two weeks furlough she was called back to full time work, sans the pay cut. Of course, she immediately notified the state whom continued to send benefits. Finally she got them to stop so she then calculated the overpayment and sent in a repay. (I told her to keep meticulous records so I know she payed back the exact amount due). Then comes the year end 1099 showing the full amount she got with no offset for repayment. Our refund has been in limbo since Feb 10th as I assume they are trying to hash out why we show one amount and the records show something else. Trying to get through to find out what is up is like trying to pry info out of NSA.
