I know why they did it. The result to us was we kept getting checks we were NOT entitled too. Given how texas is handling their issue in not seeking repayments where warranted, would we have been justified in keeping ours? Not by my ethics. We made the refund and paid the price by having our refund delayed due to wrong numbers fed to the IRS by the state. I am also aware of the number of people with no savings. That more than rarely is people spending more than they make and expecting the government to bail them out.
