Google repeatedly hands over user data to law enforcement without a warrant

Google is turning over user data to US law enforcement, even when requests for that come without a warrant, in the form of requests that are not court-ordered.

That emerges from information shared with the LA Times by an anonymous Google user, who said they were notified about this in an email from the tech giant, who said the request came from the Department of Homeland Security, without including the request itself in the email.

When this Google user asked to see the document, it turned out to be an administrative subpoena issued by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), while the data the agency was requesting from Google included the user’s name, home, email, and IP addresses, as well as sources of payment associated with the account.

And here, the term “account” covers any Google service and app, such as Gmail, Google Pay, YouTube, etc.

In the original email that arrived from the giant’s Legal Investigations Support, the user was advised that this data would indeed be handed to the agency as requested unless they obtained a federal court stamped motion to quash the subpoena within seven days.

I’m surprised that Google even let him know about it.

Of course. Look at what Google has been doing in China. Chinese Green Card holders at Google vastly outnumber any other country who has Green Card employees working there.

There is a reason for that.

The big banks are doing the same with personal information. When they decide to seize your assets, they will do it quickly and completely. Without financial assets you will not be able to hire competent legal representation. You’ll get a government assigned public defender eager to plea bargain your case as quickly as possible.

Bill of Rights. What Bill of Rights? Your rights are what the government permits at a point in time and is subject to change on a moments notice.

RIGHT!

Especially after they pass laws making it illegal to be white, or be a racist (meaning you cannot criticize any Democrat), or make any disparaging remark about transsexuals!

You forgot about wearing a MAGA hat. That's illegal for sure. Oh and "walking while being conservative" That's like a 3rd degree felony with minimum 20 year sentence.

Why is this a shock?

Google and Facebook have been an information collection g arm of the government since their inception.

So when I read about a freeper Ravi g about how convenient the two platforms are I shake my head at the stupidity.

Google, by turning over user data without a warrant, loses any standing in court to not turn over any of THEIR OWN information without a warrant.

Duck Duck Go.

And what free email service does DDG offer? What video hosting platform? What kind of paid ad service do they offer for your website? What traffic and map services does DDG have? What thermostat do they sell? How about a watch that tracks biological indicators? Does DDG offer a laptop, browser, payment service, or cloud storage? Did DDG develop and semi-release a smartphone OS that handles something like 85% of the world's phones? Does DDG own a human-user test that's pretty much got a 100% monopoly? (reCaptcha)
https://acquiredby.co/what-companies-does-google-own/

Avoiding Google and stopping them from collecting your data isn't as easy as using DDG for websearches instead. Google's tentacles are almost EVERYWHERE. If you have Pale Moon (or I think Firefox still has this), then press 'F12'. It'll open a developer tools console, and one of the very first things you'll see is "script ... google-analytics.com/urchin". If you want to avoid Google, you'd better drop Free Republic from your favorites list.
