Nielson...silent as a lamb asleep in the nearest barn...knows nothing about TV viewer numbers for the 2021 super bowl. Ya got to be kidding me.

Booed the crap out of the fraud, booed the woke bs ads
and I left my Nielsen device in the car
They just might include the cardboard cutouts seated at the game!
These days I’d be pissed off if they preempted “Heidi” for an NFL game.
We watched, with my mother. My mother just loves football, always has. So even her hyper-US hyper-trump self couldn’t resist NFL this year after all the insults, as she is very sad personally. My father died previous Thanksgiving and she feels so alone and desolate as is (my sister died 8 years prior) then this horrid year happened. For her it’s “all I have”.
So while we didn’t watch even the Steelers this year (proud of my husband, including cancelling NFL network), I let her watch her Ravens, etc.
At least since we were together, that’s one TV rather than 2.

Isn’t Nielson’s reason for existence to inform advertisers of audience size and age distribution? Do you suppose advertisers are the Neilson’s source of income?
Looked up “Nielsen Ratings” in wikipedia. Top show from 2003-2011 was American Idol. From 2011 to now it was NBC Sunday Night Football.
Most watched network in 2019 (latest data) was CBS.

Nielsen can sample cable or streaming without a device. Only an antenna without those attached let’s you get away from them.
I’m guessing the numbers are going to be good judging by the random people who talked about watching it. I haven’t watched it for a couple of decades.
I'm done with the NFL...and the NBA...and MLB...and the NHL...and the PGA...and NASCAR...and any other outlet which insists on telling me just how worthless and dangerous I am.

I predict many turned off the game 5 seconds into the Jeep ad.
Also, wondering what information was turned up by algos during the game. Big Data measurements taken of people watching the game and those same people reacting to friends or to social media.
They are probably running their numbers thru a Dominion voting machine and waiting for a 3 am dump so they can show that it was the most popular Super Bowl in history.
At my local pub, we all turned our chairs to face away from the TVs in response to the BLM propaganda crap and chanted “BLM SUCKS!”
Hubby is a football nut, 80 yrs old, Ret. career Navy SCPO, since they started this kneeling crap not 1 game has been on our TV. Tennis has replaced it, YOUK TO BOTH.

Currently streaming services contract with Nielsen independently. It’s direct sampling of platforms like Roku, Netflix, the networks and Amazon Prime. I can’t think of a streaming service that doesn’t do it. The cable companies did it for years. You agree to be part of the sampling in the user agreement.
I personally know a guy (all my life in fact) and he and his family have Nielson Peoplemeters. We, I mean they took extra means to not watch one second of the game.
