AIDS likely made the leap from chimpanzees to humans because of a starving World War I soldier who was forced to hunt the animals for food, according to a new book.
The unknown “Patient Zero” was part of an invasion force of 1,600 Belgian and French troops who, along with 4,000 African aides, had traveled from Leopoldville in the Belgian Congo to a remote outpost in Cameroon, says Canadian microbiologist Jacques Pepin, who once worked as a bush doctor in central Africa in the 1980s.
Pepin, a professor in the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Universite de Sherbrooke in Quebec, makes the intriguing hypothesis the focus of a new edition of his famed book, “Origins of AIDS.”

History lesson for those who weren't there to realize their horrendous treatment of Trump is unique and new.
Did the monkey enjoy it?
Got to blame it on a white dude.
I thought The Jews invented it to wipe out blacks.
Did you mean NOT unique and new?
Just a story planted to make the notion that Sars-Cov2/CV19 came from someone eating a bat seem plausible.
Yes, I did. Ooops, can’t fix now it but thanks for pointing it out.
LOL! That was my first thought years ago when they traced it to monkeys. Who diddled the monkey?
Dunno, but Nancy Pelosi was the offspring.
(Did I get that right, Mr. Farrakhan?)
Anything to shift the blame away from African bush meat and homosexuals spreading it around.
false story because Jacques Pepin is a chef.
And they tracked it to homosexuals later, but not sure when that began.
Anyone remember GRIDS?
Exactly. This book sounds like another left wing revisionist “narrative” to make whitey the culprit. How the hell does this guy know who was the first to be infected with the precursor to AIDS? I would think most European soldiers would be loathe to eat a monkey if other game was about and there was far more game in 1921 than today to hunt. Realistically, given the sheer numbers and proximity, it’s most likely a native African who got the bug first. “Bush meat”, including monkey meat, isn’t the turn off to their cultures as it is to ours.
They were using monkeys to make vaccines, at the same time they were weaponizing cancer using monkeys.
It seems to me that we gave a lot of people cancer, and this is also a good place to look for the beginning of AIDS.
The monkeys have a genetic disposition to develop cancerous tumors in these same kidneys they were making vaccines out of.
So a highly infectious disease that doesn’t kill the host quickly and is spread by sex took 70 years to become an epidemic?
Gay related immunodeficiency.
Why WW1 ?
Africans eat ‘jungle meat’ all the time since then.
