A professor who in an experiment infected himself with Covid-19 to become ill with the virus for a second time says hopes for herd immunity are overblown.
Dr Alexander Chepurnov, 69, first caught coronavirus on a skiing trip to France in February.
After recovering back home in Siberia without requiring hospitalisation, he and his team at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Novosibirsk launched a study into coronavirus antibodies.
They studied 'the way antibodies behaved, how strong they were, and how long they stayed in the body' and found they decrease rapidly, he said.
He said: 'By the end of the third month from the moment I felt sick, the antibodies were no longer detected.

So he infected himself twice and survived both times... So this is like a stronger than normal cold. Even less potent than a regular flu.
Stinks of fake news, doom and gloom.
That also would mean vaccines are useless and we’ll know in 6 months. After the genetically vulnerable are dead, the virus will just be another one that does nothing.
Think about this: We have NEVER mass tested for a virus like we are currently doing.
The world is conducting 100 million plus tests for a virus.
When has that ever happened before?
We see millions of positive results, but we have no context to put it into because we have never done mass testing like this before.
So, linking positive tests to deaths has been very uncertain...especially as we have gotten better at theraputics and protecting the vulnerable.
Sounds anecdotal....
Sounds like the common cold.
If that is true then why bother with a vaccine???
A Siberian scientist
Hmmmm
The entire world should declare war against China. What idiot creates such a virus?
I think the Rooskies would love to keep people freaked.
So would the UK’s Deep State.
herd immunity IS futile — it would take too long. Vaccines are the hope.
Remember - Covid has a long incubation and has low lethality - so it spreads quickly among people and doesn’t kill off it’s spreaders always.
This is kinda like polio.
Yet the common cold doesn’t kill its host and constantly evolves - so being “good” for the virus, that it spreads and multiplies.
like a vaccine for polio. Covid doesn’t seem to mutate very fast - nowhere near the common cold’s mutation levels.
The CDC says it has no virus isolates for COVID, which begs the question of what he was injecting and how he got it.
The number of people who yammer on about “herd immunity” because they heard a smart person say it once is disturbing.
Is there “herd immunity” for any of the other human coronaviruses? (no). Have any of the 40 years of projects to develop a vaccine for any of the other human coronaviruses succeeded? (no).
This puppy may be here to stay.
The answer to your question was in the article but since you were too lazy to read it I’m too lazy to answer the question for you.
Once you figure out that the vaccine only gives you 90 days of ‘help’...selling you the juice will be almost impossible. No one is going to take four vaccines per year. The billions poured into research? Down the drain.
Health care workers, that's about it.
Our immune system is wonderful and valuable. Various stuff enters our body, and our body gets rid of it
