The fuel efficient airplane is hoped to be a solution for the future of airplanes.

Passengers could one travel in the wings of Flying V planes, which is designed with the cabin, cargo holds and fuel tanks placed along two Vs.

Experts tested a 22.5kg and a 3-metre scale model of the futuristic plane, developed by researchers at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

The successful flight will be a major boost for the hotel anticipated aircraft as it move into the next development stages.

Dutch airline KLM agreed to fund development of the V-shaped aircraft, which could be the norm one day.

Maybe more fuel efficient and thats great

But i see a lot of downsides, namely a much bigger footprint and target posibly a lot more places for airframe fatigue

At at speed they were a bitch to control. If it weren’ for Fly by technology the stealth V’s would be near impossible to control.

Good point

In the article it said the model flyers had to adjut the center of gravity on these things while in flight to get them to handle better

So they knew theyd ha e to be tweaking stuff and find where these models centers of gravity needed to be to fly the safest way possible

Boeing has explored a similar concept and may still be doing so. At least two major problems are evacuation times and airport design of ramps and jetways.

Instead of worrying about making a green passenger jet they should work on cost effective super sonic one. It would be nice to get to across the pond in four hours.
