Lakers, Clippers Vote To Boycott NBA Season
The Washington Times ^ | 08/26/20 | Victor Morton

Posted on 08/27/2020 6:04:35 AM PDT by Enlightened1

The Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers, led by superstar LeBron James, reportedly voted to boycott the rest of the NBA playoffs.

According to Shams Charania, lead NBA writer for The Athletic, James walked out of a hastily-called players meeting when other team representatives said they would not join.

However, Mr. Charania reported, other players realize that even if just those two teams boycott the season, enormous problems would be created in finishing the playoffs.

“Sources: Miami’s Udonis Haslem spoke and essentially told everyone in room that — without Lakers and Clippers, how will season continue? LeBron James walked out. Rest of Lakers and Clippers exited behind him,” Mr. Charania wrote.

The Lakers and Clippers were the two best teams in the Western Conference during the regular season and were poised to win their first-round series in the next day or two.

However, all three of Wednesday’s playoff games were cancelled after the teams, led by the Milwaukee Bucks, refused to play because of the police shooting of a Black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

As a result, the players on all the teams in the “bubble” in Orlando, Florida, held a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the next move.

According to Mr. Charania, James wants more social activism from the owners, who already have gone in hard in supporting Black Lives Matter and other left-leaning protest groups.

“LeBron James said in meeting he want owners to be more involved/take action,” Mr. Charania wrote.

He also reported that players on others teams who opposed boycotting the rest of the season thought the Bucks had put them in an awkward position without advance notice.

As long as the CCP is bankrolling them they will do this I think. They would lose market share over here. In the competition for viewers, it’s been a monopolistic sh*t show for years, and that may be what they are counting on to minimize their losses.

The kids around here who would ordinarily be on the neighborhood basketball courts are getting into bikes, motorbikes, and that will probably turn into an interest in mechanics, which would be a good thing.

Their preening, lecturing, smug hypocrisy knows no ends.

Big, big, big supporters of Communist China and its human rights abuses. Now tired of time in their “bubble” and trying to wrap themselves in a moral cloak before packing it up and going home part way into their playoffs.

All for civil rights and negatively judging the majority of the population on their morality, while slobbering into action after a few selective seconds of a video clip.

Their “leaders”, such as Jaylen Brown not only can’t wait to get out with the Marxist rioters and looters, but pressures that you are morally deficient if you don’t get yourself out there with them.

The NBA should leave America.

Ironic that a Greek citizen started this boycott.

Nobody was watching anyway. I’ve said it before, if these selfish “men” were truly interested in social justice they would be spending their time helping their communities, they would be encouraging companies to open businesses in areas that would provide jobs, they would be mentoring kids and funding scholarships for youngsters to get into properly functioning schools.

So, yeah, walk out nobody cares.

real Question..

What is the shelf life of the average NBA player?
2 or 3 years?

I would think essentially missing a season could be catastrophic for rookies. And with lost revenue drive down the salaries for players entering the game?

Among the big three pro sports, NBA is a mediocre third in fan attendance and support. They are playing from a position of weakness here although they are too self absorbed to know it. Few will notice or charge whether they play again this year or not. Mostly just gamblers, who will miss the action.

Will anyone notice?

ESPN will have to shift programming to full blown Left wing politics now that they have no NBA and likely no NFL kneelers.

Luka should just tell the Mavericks, “Been nice guys, but I’m going back to Europe.” They don’t deserve him.

The sports media, especially ESPN, is hyperventilating about this. Problem: the average American does not care. 😛

Dang did you hit the nail on the head. I can’t stand watching the NBA. Every freakin’ foul call leads to an argument. I watched 5 minutes of game last week. A player on Tornoto(?) went in for a contested layup and got fouled. The player who fouled him started jumping up and down like Donkey Kong, protesting the call. Houston’s coach asked for a video review, I guess assuming that his player was telling the truth when he claimed no foul. They replayed the call in slow motion and literally the Houston player’s arm nearly took the guy’s head off—it was a fairly OBVIOUS foul. Sure, he got “all ball” but that was after his arm hit the Toronto player on the head. The NBA blacks argue, dishonestly contest foul calls, and a lot of them look like ghetto thugs.

“Now I play co-ed volleyball. No arguing, just fun with “suburban” people.”

Nothing wrong with women’s beach volleyball, either. No politics, just unbelievably fit tanned females in sports bikinis to take one’s mind off the world’s troubles.

;^)
