Jeff Sessions likes to portray himself as pro 2nd Amendment and boasts of a lifetime rating by the NRA.
However I was going through Sen. Rand Paul's amendments and found THIS from 2011. Gun Owners of America supported the amendment to stop gun owners being subject to PATRIOT Act fishing expeditions and Jeff Sessions voted with 85 other senators to kill it.
This is a clear anti-2A vote!
See for yourself. I have linked to Sen. Paul's amendment on the Senate website.
Here is a brief explanation from the John Birch Society (JBS):
JEFFERSON SESSIONS
Motion to Table S.Amdt. 363: Motion to Table S.Amdt. 363
Vote Date: May 26, 2011 Vote: AYE Bad Vote.
Patriot Act (Firearms Purchase Records).
During consideration of the Patriot Act extension bill (S. 990), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who opposes the Patriot Act on constitutional grounds, offered an amendment that would have banned the use of Patriot Act searches for American citizens' firearms records without the Fourth Amendment's protections of probable cause, warrants, and particularity.
Gun Owners of America, which supported this amendment, warned: "Without Paul's exemption, it is possible that the BATFE could go to a secret (FISA) court, and, in a one-party (ex parte) proceeding, obtain an order to produce every 4473 [firearms transaction record] in the country, ostensibly because a 'terrorism investigation' requires it. If such an action were taken, the government would have a list of every gun buyer in the country going back decades."
The Senate tabled (killed) Rand Paul's amendment on May 26, 2011 by a vote of 85 to 10 (Roll Call 82). We have assigned pluses to the nays because Paul's amendment would have prevented the Patriot Act from being used to violate the rights of gun owners.
Amazingly, Shelby who is Sessions home state colleague voted for the amendment!
Jeff Sessions is a slimy swamp creature.
I would need to know his reasoning, other 2A votes he participated in, and his current thinking about 2A to say that his vote meant something back then. He could genuinely disagree with the writing of the bill, which sometimes happens.
Ben Carson is also a double talker on the issue of guns- he claism he supports them then turns aroudn and says peopel in ‘certain areas should not5 be allowed to have them’
Ben says many very conservative things, but then goes off the deep end, like so many do, when it comes ot important issues like guns, death panels etc- His tried to justify his views by making comments about gun control for semi automatics by claiming it depends on where you live No Ben- the second amendment and right to effectively protect yourself shouldn’t depend on where you live- only liberals believe and make laws like that-
His other votes are OK.
When it comes to the PATRIOT Act however he does not care about gun rights and the NRA gave him a pass ... GOA did not!
At least Sessions has been vetted. I worry if Tubberville gets the nomination what kind of stories will come out/ be fabricated. Just info disinfo and BS and Abortion Jones might get re-elected.
It is hypocritical and really dishonest for the president to suggest that the way to deal with violations of gun laws is to pass more laws, if you are not prosecuting the ones we have.
But...but...Q said trust Jeff Sessions. He is a white hat!?
Big Deal. He sold Trump and us out by not resigning. He is either compromised, or he’s in on the Deep State. He would be another Romney at best.
Was Sessions perfect? No, no senator is. Was he wrong on that particular vote? Yes, he was.
However, he has had one of the best overall voting records of any seantor we’ve had recently.
Freedom Works gave him a lifetime 84.
American Conservative Union has him at a lifetime 96.5.
The guy’s on our side.
He was terrible when Bush was in office.
He voted for his agenda etc.
Unbalanced budgets, stimulus you name it.
He looked better when Obama was in office... of course he would. That explains his ratings.
Then Doug Jones will start counting down the days until his Liberal Pond scum butt is handed to him November 3.
Whats polling show in AL re: primary and general between them?
Polls for the General show Tuberville leading Jones by anywhere from 13-23 points and Sessions leading by 10-15 points.
Old Guy.
Enough said.
Early June - Tuberville 47 Sessions 40
Late June - Tuberville 49 Sessions 43
Last week - Tuberville 55 Sessions 35 (this looks like an outlier).
“American citizens’ firearms records” <— These should not even exist! My government has absolutely NO BUSINESS knowing what weapons I do or do not have. Registration leads to confiscation. Records of any kind are a form of registration and lead to confiscation. Every NICS check should be a simple unrecorded thumbs-up/thumbs-down instant response, with a clear and simple path to appeal any thumbs-down response.
Vetted and exposed as a weak pathetic creature of the swamp, who now wants to slither back into the muck.
OTOH, Tuberville has spent a career outside politics, coaching at the top tier college level. He has recruited numerous black athletes into his football program, coached them through college, and watched them succeed as professionals.
I'd say Tuberville has a lot of good will built up over that time period which will serve him well going forward. Watch his interview with Steve Flowers and see if you don't agree.
I’m voting anyone but Abortion Jones, just afraid of what they will dig up on Tubbs if/when he gets the nomination. Don’t want Doug up there for 6 more freaking years.
