“The useless GOP will just let the commies take over”

.

Then we need to form Anticom.

The progs would have fits trying to spin such a well defined political philosophy(communism) as a race based supremacist philosophy.

Kinda tough to re-define communism as racist after over 100 years of documentation by the side that adheres to it.

.

Is YouTube essentially a monopoly? If someone said yes, I’d be in no mood to disagree. Same goes for Twitter.

I don't think either is a monopoly, but I'm game - there are anti-trust laws dating back to the 19th century to allow the government to go after monopolies. If Attorney General Barr wants, he can bring a suit under the Sherman Antitrust Act against both or either -- he hasn't done so, which I think is telling.

I believe in free markets. Apparently you don’t.

No, you don’t. We don’t have a free market now. Big Tech is dominated by politically active oligarchs no different than the Robber barons. If you did believe in free markets you’d notice that.

Yep, Reddit, Twitch, and YouTube all in one day. Surprised Twitter hasn’t joined them. Still a few hours left in the day though.

You realize this is the exact opposite situation? How long until “conservatives” on FR argue that FR is obligated to unzot trolls because, uh, because.

I sent a message to youtube through my Twitter account saying please reinstate Moleneux, who is always provocative and not in any way biased.

I saw his 90-minute interview with Shiva Ayyadurai, who has four degrees from MIT including a PhD in microbiology, the study of the immune system. He also holds the patent on email, which. he created as a teenager, and is running as a Republican candidate for Senate in MA. Brilliant and interesting guy who says shutdown is a CROCK and politically motivated. We don’t need masks, we need to build our immune systems. Molyneux mention in the interview that he was going “against the narrative” and might be banned from youtube. He was right.

They want us gone and in electronic ghettos like Parler.

Stop using YouTube, Twitter and Google.

These companies depend on massive user bases to sell advertising. If you don’t like their policies and practices go elsewhere and pursued others to do the same.

Parler will get better as more people move to the site.

‘Vote with your feet’ as the saying goes. You don’t want the government choosing the winners and losers.

If we go that way the only thing that happens is that we get fewer choices and eventually the Marxist win after all it is Big Government that they really want.

The USA has anti trust and monopoly laws. Why... are they NOT being enforced?

You all know damn well if these places were silencing the Left, judges would jump all over these companies.

When things don’t make sense, they soon will...

Something is coming.

Do you think trolls zotted on FR should take Jim Robinson to court? I don't understand this argument.

Free Republic is not an open forum. You Tube is a different beast.

Big Tech want the “troublemakers” gone. Then they don’t have to ban us. Just as the GOPe wants us dead and gone, too.

Parler is destined to be a niche spot frequented by political hobbyists. Forget about outreach to the other 80% of the population that are on twitter for sports, entertainment and breaking news. Preaching to the choir on Parler is a fools errand.

What's an "open forum?" FR has rules. You Tube has rules. They're both made up by the owners, they're both for-profit websites in a country where competition is supposedly welcome and people are supposedly able to do what they want with their property.

Sorry, nothing is coming.

I had a family acquaintance that worked in anti-Trust at DOJ. Hard leftist, naturally. Those Democrats at DOJ are never in a million years take on Big Tech to the benefit of the GOP.

> I don’t think either is a monopoly, but I’m game... <

I think it all comes down to numbers. For example, how does YouTube’s traffic compare to the next busiest video-posting site?

I did a quick search, but didn’t find much. But let’s say that YouTube had 60% of the video-posting market, and the next busiest site had 10%. That would sound like a monopoly to me. Regulate them.

YouTube could avoid that be breaking itself into two parts. One part could be censored by their lefties. The other part could be the Wild West.

But now let’s say that YouTube had 30% the market, and the next busiest site had 25%. Then no big deal. Leave them alone.

You realize this legal argument is about the communications decency act? If you want the Wild West, you’re forcing YouTube (and presumably other websites) against the will of their owners to run pornography. Are you really asking for that? That’s the strangest use of big government power I’ve ever heard of.
