They got more help from people like Adenauer and Willy Brandt than is generally known. The EU itself is USSR-like enough.
In a way, it’s kind of true that Lenin was a fighter for freedom and democracy... if you define those terms in the way that the Bolsheviks’ ideological ancestors, the Jacobins, did.
