I would say that Mike Rowe is a National Treasure....but I would be selling him WAY SHORT.
Thanks for posting...sent it off to a couple younger family members who work in the trades.
Mike Rowe is a great man.
Nice! I’m sharing that big time!
I have a nephew who became a skilled machinist.
He is well paid, has not been laid off, has a wife, two children, a lovely home and 25 acres within an hour of his work.
Living the dream!
His thinking is truly American without indicating any political bias. He lives by true American values and virtue.
Excellent!
Thank you for posting. I saw this the other day. EXCELLENT.
As another person said, this man is certainly a National Treasure.
I sincerely wish all those who do the dirty work and labors would get the recognition in society they deserve. That is one silver lining to this whole boondoggle, people are waking up to the value of trades and jobs that make lives better for us all.

Mike Rowe is great. I also find it amusing to see the so called “educated” among us are calling jobs such as grocery bagger, shopping cart gatherer, burger flipper, welder, mechanic etc etc etc heroic as if they only now discovered that such people actually exist. But once this is over they will go back to their necessary jobs and forget about the newly found heroes that only lurk in the shadows of their world.
I met a 2020 female graduate yesterday who will be attending a 2 year welding program the fall. I just sent this video to her. My granddaughter will be attending college this Fall to get a 4 year degree in Psychology. What a colossal waste.
Mike Rowe has a great podcast “The Way I Heard It.” Fans should begin at the beginning. Also a book by the same name.
We used to have “shop” classes in high school, aka “industrial arts.” These were required classes for boys, while girls were steered to “home ec.”
Kerfuffles ensued, with girls hollering ‘sexism’ for being told that welding, carpentry & auto repair weren’t ‘ladylike’ endeavors; meanwhile, boys wanting to learn to cook & sew were branded ‘sissies.’
Instead of simply opening both curricula (which taught useful life skills) to both sexes, both were eventually removed from public schools altogether & replaced with LGBT & climate change indoctrination.
Thanks. Shared it. Mike Rowe has it right.
As a retired skilled tradesman (auto tech) I enjoyed Mike’s speech & appreciate what he is trying to get across to today’s young college-age folks. I would just advise those aspiring in the auto tech field to be careful about where you work; some places are just not worth the effort. The best bet is to make sure you will be afforded the advantage of paid factory training classes. These help a lot. If an employer is able to send you, but won’t then it’s time to move along. Of course, that’s only one of the pitfalls of this job; there are many others. Some of it may be beyond your ability to cope with;such as a shop changing hands or changing brands (in the case of working at a dealership).
Why can’t we draft hiim for a political post? Start a movement and I don’t believe he would spurn the nation’s call
