A letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo to shut down the citys subways and buses as a measure against the spread of COVID-19 was not met with agreement by the parties involved on Sunday morning.
City Councilman Robert Holdens office penned the letter that Holden and three other City Council members signed Eric Ulrich and Peter Koo of Queens, and Mark Gjonaj of the Bronx.
The lawmakers said that the striking number of transit workers deaths, as well as the prolific spread of the disease being something unique to New York City, should be considered. They also called on the city to suspend all parking regulations.
Holdens office did not immediately respond to amNewYork Metro when asked for a copy of the letter, but posted the letter to Facebook after our deadline for this story.
The MTA told amNewYork Metro on Sunday that the request was a non-starter.
What these council members dont realize is that shutting down mass transit during this unprecedented crisis would be dangerous and could lead to even more deaths, an MTA statement said.

All youve got to do is take the photo and put the location with it, and, bang, send a photo like this and we will make sure that enforcement comes right away, de Blasio said in a video message.

Below are the data. Note for the US as nation, that Day 1 is March 25, which means Day 26 is April 19 for that row of data. You can do the math for the other municipalities to find out what Day XX means for them in calendar times; as a general rule, the last actual data point is the freshest date, but on a Golf timeline it gives each municipality's score as of the "26th hole." Data are sorted by descending Day 26 fatality counts. For the state-level data, I included states that only had fatality counts from Day 23 onward; I'll post all of the data to my About page.
America's relative size moved up a few days ago with NY adding 3700 fatalities. We basically switched places with Switzerland, however Ireland is now sligtly higher in the adjusted-fatality count. Hands-off Sweden and Netherlands are higher in the fatality race but they haven't vaporized their service economies.
At the state level, the Blue states are running away with it - the municipalities with size- and time-adjusted fatalities higher than the US as a whole by Day 26 are New York (Blue), New Jersey (Blue), Connecticut (Blue), Massachusetts (Blue), Michigan (Red), Louisiana (Red), and District of Columbia (Blue), respectively.

Gee it’s a shame they never attached a line to Staten Island...
Who doesn’t like to find junkies and gangstas at their local station :)
We have a 20 stop local train :)
But everyone has cars out here.
Breathtaking hypocrisy.
