Now that you got me going, I have to ask: Why are people still delivering and buying green indoor weed...not but a month off the plant?

It’s a damn crime, as it would be for green tobacco.

Like tobacco, weed needs to be properly dried and cured. It’s complex and time consuming...and takes a lot of jars/equipment.

Yet, when my niece fired up last weekend I could smell the green. Almost like grass.

I told her to call her uncle. He cures for 12 months, every year. And gets premium prices at the coop.

Premium.

Grower porn from the historical epicenter of small, family farms.

If it’s not 8ft, preferably 12ft, you have failed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnbvB4Ou7_o

2lbs per plant is typical yield.

No they were pros

That’s my point ....pros fail too

Quality control and infestation ...are the big issues

I’ve yet to see anyone grow 30% thca weed in a large warehouse grow

Low 20s is more common

Best chance for super grade is small scale intense care weed strains and set up

Some larger green house set ups work too

I’ve seen great quality in high quantity in Carpenteria green house ops but that sort of micro climate is pretty limited to central Kali coast or mex border Arizona or maybe south Florida below the citrus grow reach

“I’ve yet to see anyone grow 30% thca weed in a large warehouse grow”

Yet it’s routine on the lost coast.

Some things are best left to mother nature. And selective breeding.

” There is no federal oversight, so growers can do anything they want. “

Stupid comment. In my state, inspectors and auditors harass -— literally harass at times — growers, distributors and dispensers at every link in the chain. Products with suspicious backgrounds get pulled out of stores and stores closed. WTF is a “conservative” doing calling for fed involvement? You ain’t no conservative, just an alky bigot (my educated best guess).

I recall the movie where the hippies killed the big shot San Francisco pot broker

Those days are sort of over since it went recreational

Prices are way down

Prices for outdoor in NorCal are around 1000 today max unless esoteric

Southwest Poregon like Cave Junction, Williams and O’Brien my business partners in Los Angeles bough five boxes of 25% THCA mostly sativa and hybrid strains for 700-800@ lb

All destined for gummies and vape oil...some goes for particulate concentrates like budder

That same herb five years ago would have been 1700-2200 and before legalization would have been 2500-3200.

Crazy.

Oklahoma coming legal and a few others who lacked their own grow supply bumped Kali prices up 5-600 but it’s now back down 300-400 a pound

It’s a fun market to try to time one can profiteer if smart ...I’m not that clever.

If you’re in Trinity or Humboldt or better yet in my opinion. Between Lompoc and Santa Barbara ..climate wise...with a decent green house so you can do light dep once or twice and a nice outdoor you don’t pull till Thanksgiving ....with 99 plants each no paper work required...with good strains and you don’t mind getting out of bed before rock star dawn..noon...

You should produce a pound a plant light dep and 4-5 pounds a plant long season ....

That’s easy 500-800 pounds a year for someone who works..

Expenses for electricity and generators if needed and heat and soil....important soil is and nutrients and help...couple thousand a month for good help and trim school at harvest

Even at today’s sale prices it’s still. Few hundred grand a year. IVe known plenty folks doing it year after year from Santa Cruz to Mendo to Redding to Arcata to Oregon

Best grow climate to me is San Luis Obispo and Morro Beach area ...Lompoc too

After that Santa Cruz and Mendo

All that costal weed has a sweet piney stickiness I know it as sure as I know a fine Haute Medoc

Michigan is a whole not her animal...piss poor to grow green house weed in

Imagine you’ve got 99 nug laden puppies and it’s snowing in October and you’ve got propane heaters at 100 bucks a day or wood chip stoves and dehumidifiers running

Cold and damp is bud rot madness and at the worst time

Outdoor grow in Michigan you make your harvest last three weeks totally dependent on weather ...a dry late snow fall is perfect and rare..lol

I am ignorant how the big Florida outdoor grows are doing...I’d like to check it out

As a teen I knew guys in Adams county Mississippi grew tons of outdoor guerrilla sense when it first started with pure sativa skunk strains

Ferriday Louisiana lads from LSU when I was at ole miss....they loved that Adams county brown loam in the loess bluffs overlooking the river

Enormous Christmas tree sativas yielding 8-15 pounds a plant

Crazy....very good lime green seedless weed for back then ..skunk skunk very loud

Yep humid hot climes are nice for ganja growing no doubt

I prefer the weed I have a hand in to be cured to 70% humidity because I think high grade big nugs to be sold as leaf look best fluffy and dense and heavy with some water still in the weed like indoor hydro or cocoa husks soil herb under nice Gavita lights

My associates usually like drier weed at 62%

I also like the higher weight to volume my specs give

I’m a leaf guy and have been biz wise a very long time

For edibles and concentrates it doesn’t matter

Lights..I am not sold on LED over HPS yet yield wise though electricity savings is huge

I do like machine dry trimmers....I don’t like wet trimmers

It’s too expensive to pay folks to trim like in the old days fiskers in hand

One thing that does piss me off about young third gen hippies in Oregon in particular is about drying product

They will grow beautiful Bruce Banner or Gorilla Glue etc and trim it nice and cure it well enough and then just toss it in a hefty bag where it sits drying out crumbling losing weight day after day for months and months rather than seal it either in a food saver or a commercial nitrous operation which is best
It’s cray cray...all that effort and too lazy to preserve it

Properly stored it’s good for two years with nitrous seal injection

I open some and go well damn it would be damn good a year ago now it’s almost dust and hard to repair

Lazy and cheefed is no way to go through life 24/7

Yeah, I remember that scene in Reefer Madness, where there was a pandemic, and some totally crazed reefer addict was so high, he touched his hand to his face without using Purell first, and because reefer is like 100 times worse than cigarettes, he immediately got pneumonia and died right next to a honky tonk piano

My little brother in Michigan when not couch locked can grow 30% with a good strain

16 double ended HPS lights

Cocoa shell soil and good food

Water properly

Fans

Tie off towers

Trim all the time

Chernobyl

Chocolope

JillyBean

Herers Ghost

Green Crack

He’s had some cannabis cup runner ups in Ann Arbor

Usual yield is 30 pounds dressed

And in Michigan where prices stay high for reasons I don’t understand he gets 2400 a pound from folks from the east

He’s got 30 lights total and outdoors too

If he was diligent he’d turn 300k profit easy

He’s also adept at butane shatter ..which sells like hot cakes

“he gets 2400 a pound”

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Much higher prices than the wholesale pittance my cousin gets from the co op. They call it “market pricing” lol

But there is so much of it, 1500 is the best price he’s seen in years. And that’s for the ultra super premium outdoor fragrance, after due curing. Grown in natural soils organically.

And he’s hoping for 1500 this year again (last year’s harvest).

Nobody around there even remembers the original genetics that spawned those wonderful strains. So they have a beer and make up a name.

Made me laugh out loud...how many times have we thought up names too or gotten a glossary to look for one

Trying to find a name at lest related to one of the progenitor strains

Like Gorilla Glue is a grandson of Sour Diesel so we try to find a name in the family

Sometimes you just get packages from growers unlabeled and dispensaries want to know ....they want assays too nowadays..

I live near a very small town....

There is a "Vaping Store"....

I've never been in it...but some folks told me the guy that owned the place was always vaping.

Then I hear he has the "19"...and is 55-56 yrs old..and in the Hosp.

He died....

I'd take a guess...he was a long time smoker. Probable COPD'er...that used vaping to quit smoking...

When I moved to NE OK...from SoCal...

I noticed right away.....more people smoked here than in SoCal.

And anecdotally..it appeared..and still appears more women smoke here..than men.
