We need to get this economy restarted, even if it is incremental, with federal guidance, and with more states added every week

Red states open tomorrow. Blue states next year.

Are there any states that have NOT shut down all “non-essential” retail businesses?

Yes do a ‘soft’ reopening phase 1. Open up the states and rural areas least affected. Require everyone out in the public to wear masks or face coverings plus practice all the other guidelines. If it goes well after 2 weeks open up the moderately populated regions. Then lastly the densely populated cities. Get it started after Easter with phase 1.

Of the 29 deaths in MN, so far, 13 were nursing home or other long term care residents.

Go county by county but not college towns.

The President was correct with his first assessment of opening at Easter. Did Fauxci & Birx nix that date? Why?

It is not the President’s decision to make. It is the governors of those states.

Totally agree. Florida should also be given a chance of reopening too. It’s a semi-red state.

People who don’t want to go out won’t have to and won’t be penalized..they can still get state bennies even if they’re just too scared to go out. But PLEASE open things up again. Make people wear masks, whatever, I don’t care. But open it up.

I wrote to the WH this morning and you all should do so too. Trump needs support.

The governors and mayors of these states have the power right now to rescind the stay-at-home order any time they want. The Feds are just providing guidance to help them with their public health responsibilities. If the cases in their cities don’t spike they will be like the first people back in the water after a shark sighting. Everybody else will feel safe to join them.

If they are early and the virus overwhelms their health care system, people will die that didn’t have to. I’m not sure most politicians would take that bet.

wasn't it the governors who shut down the economy?....they need to be the ones to reopen....

trump could encourage....but let the rat governors take the responsibility for the economy....

Trump wants the medical “experts” to bail him out, and it doesn’t appear they are going to oblige. He has a real tough call to make soon.

I cannot believe, in the United States of America, we’re having to beg our elected officials to let us go back to work!

This entire episode is a steaming pile of bull sh*t!

Benjamin Franklin was right when he said:

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

I would go the other way.
I would NOT allow any state with high numbers of infected go back to work. About 5 states?
Also, i would exclude large urban areas or counties with high numbers of infected people.
And i would also make it clear that only people with legitimate ID’s from those state/counties that are deemed safe can work in those states/counties.
This will prevent spreading the virus from other infected areas to States/counties deemed safe.

I think the global shutdown and widespread isolation is overdone, county by county rules, based on #cases/100,000 would be better low incidence (low mobility/rural) should be handled very differently than high incidence (high mobility/city) just as WVa has low case load burden, and New York has high case load burden. The one size fits all approach unnecessarily impacts low risk populations, and are insufficient for severely effected areas

How about letting people voluntarily go back to normal life.

I see it more as a county-by-county thing than state by state. Of course state governors are in charge. Thus far they have made these decisions on a state-wide basis.

I doubt much is re-opened during April. One would think rural counties make a case with their governors to re-open in a few weeks. But in urban counties this thing probably drags on well into May.
