A verse from a song about the end of the world...

Rivers of evil, run through dying land
Swimming in sorrow, they kill, steal, and borrow
There is no tomorrow
For the sinners will be damned
Ashes to ashes
You cannot exhume a soul
Who do you trust when corruption and lust creed of all the unjust
Leaves you empty and unwhole?

Not talking about Trump.

It’s the entrenched bureaucracy that always takes away our freedoms.

Trump fights against them.

For any question of who to trust on such a level, the answer is:

God Almighty who created the world, gave us life and offers the ultimate Salvation from death.

"We show that in the UK and US context, suppression will minimally require a combination of social distancing of the entire population, home isolation of cases and household quarantine of their family members. This may need to be supplemented by school and university closures, though it should be recognised that such closures may have negative impacts on health systems due to increased absenteeism. The major challenge of suppression is that this type of intensive intervention package – or something equivalently effective at reducing transmission – will need to be maintained until a vaccine becomes available (potentially 18 months or more) – given that we predict that transmission will quickly rebound if interventions are relaxed. We show that intermittent social distancing – triggered by trends in disease surveillance – may allow interventions to be relaxed temporarily in relative short time windows, but measures will need to be reintroduced if or when case numbers rebound. Last, while experience in China and now South Korea show that suppression is possible in the short term, it remains to be seen whether it is possible long-term, and whether the social and economic costs of the interventions adopted thus far can be reduced."

“...everyone knows Trump is the only one who can fix it.”

There will be a huge contingent screaming “Trump CAUSED it because he DID THIS and HE DIDN’T DO THAT.”

Big difference here. In the case of epidemiology, we have lots of recent and direct data / events to study. Yes, you’ll get some incomplete explanations (what happens with measures to limit spread not included, but those are really just arguments to limit spread.)

In the case of climate change, we have NO good instance of human style inputs to the system to study. The closest I know of is the “PETM”, and that was some 55 million years ago, and very hotly debated (as to cause) by AGW types.

Hmnn… well, my Queen is frugal. I can see why she was so offended. We still have 6. That should get us by for a little while.

You are seeing chains out of food??? Where is that?

Here in Silicon Valley, all the stores have plenty of food with only spot shortages of pasta, cereal, tomato sauce and rice. Other than that, all the food shelves are fully stocked. I was just at our local fruit stand, Safeway, and Walmart. Even the food and snacks at CVS are fully stocked.

The paper goods, hand sanitizer, wipes, disinfecting soap, liquid soaps, and disinfecting sprays are all gone. But Clorox bleach is still available.

Not at all the vibe I've been getting. Quite the opposite.

Sadly I think the shift in attitudes results from the increasing political polarization, and the unwillingness of the leftist media and politicians to stop attacking the President even in the face of a serious problem.

The base will stick with him. It’s the “Independents” that will determine the outcome of the election. By virtue of being an “independent” squish, they will bend in the wind like a weak blade of grass. I can’t see those squishes trending more toward Trump than they already have.

Half of the people infected will show symptoms in 5 days. Almost all will show symptoms in 11 days. I think we all, well maybe not all of us, but a lot of us are counting the days since our last possible contact.

The best available, recent research shows that the "The median incubation period was estimated to be 5.1 days (95% CI, 4.5 to 5.8 days), and 97.5% of those who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days (CI, 8.2 to 15.6 days) of infection."

Allrighty, I know what you’re doing!!

But, yes, I go daily...sometimes more than once a day. Since I am retired and idle, going to Starbucks is the pinnacle of my day. My alarm goes off at 6:30AM. I dress and drive to Von’s which has the closest Starbucks to my house. Starbucks at the end of the street closed about 3 or 4 weeks ago and Von’s Starbucks is the closest to me.

I have a front row seat to the madness.

Try a corner gas station/convenience store for eggs.

Good idea. We stopped at one, for gas. They were EXTREMELY busy.

Wifey just left to go to Bed, Bath and Beyond. She got a text from a neighbor saying they had a huge sale on Hand Sanitizer. Figures they'd be the last ones to have any... they couldn't sell ANTHING for the past 6 months.

And others think a “more sensible way forward” is to let the virus run its course through the population without any mitigation or quarantine, anywhere.

They are the same people who think the best strategy to stop a school shooter is to wait outside until the shooter runs out of ammunition.

I started seeing limits on home health stuff. Home meds and what not. No flour. Plenty of yeast. No frozen pizzas. Gatorade was almost gone.

And a run on cranberry juice and light cream. I was looking at those two things and wondering what would drive THAT, aside from limited stock to begin with.
