BHT Health Benefits They Don’t Want You To Know About
Earthclinic ^ | Dec 31, 2018 | Deirdre Lane

BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) is an FDA approved food additive. It has been found to be an effective natural treatment for a number of viral conditions including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, the Epstein Barr virus, the herpes virus and cold sores.

While it may seem odd to use a preservative chemical to treat a virus, certainly many chemicals have multiple uses. Over 4 decades ago, Science Magazine reported that BHT inactivates some lipid coated viruses.1

BHT has also been documented as a topical remedy for some lipid coated viruses, like herpes.2 What is a Lipid Coated Virus?

Lipid coated viruses are viruses with a membrane around them. This membrane protects the virus. Breaking down that membrane with BHT or another remedy disables the virus. BHT Benefits

Some viruses which BHT may be of use for include the following:

Hepatitis B Hepatitis C Epstein Barr Virus Colds Influenza Cold Sores Herpes

Does BHT Cause Cancer?

BHT is sometimes accused of being a cancer causing chemical. Upon further investigation, studies that implicate BHT as carcinogenic involve giving large amounts of BHT (much larger than one would use therapeutically) to rats. Indeed, “the dose makes the poison.” Salt is necessary for life, but too much of it can cause death.

Some may be concerned because BHT is man-made. Not everything that is man made is dangerous. Indeed, plenty of “natural” substances can be highly toxic.

While the human body does not produce BHT, some forms of life do, like phytoplankton.

BHT is an antioxidant. Antioxidants like berries are beans are thought to protect cells from free radicals. Free radicals may contribute to cancer.

In fact, the Food and Chemical Toxicology concludes that BHT does not pose a cancer risk and may actually be anticarcinogenic at the levels currently used as a food additive.3

Lol.

I first ran into this in 1980, put forth by the original authors of the book Life Extension, by Dr. Durk Pearce and Dr. Sandy Shaw (research scientists). They began the well-known Life Extension Foundation (www.lef.org) and as far as I know, are still alive and in their 70s-80s.

Thanks pal! I read your response immediately after taking a swig of a fine Kentucky bourbon (it is Friday evening) and nearly choked trying not to spit it onto my laptop.

Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw covered the benefits of BHT in their 1982 book Life Extension.

A few interesting bits of info on him:

INFO BELOW FROM WEBSITE QU0TES.

“BHT Benefits”

“Some viruses which BHT may be of use for include the following:

Hepatitis B
Hepatitis C
Epstein Barr Virus
Colds
Influenza
Cold Sores
Herpes

What Supplements are Incompatible with BHT Treatment?

BHT is best used as a stand alone treatment, apart from the above mentioned supplements. While there are many herbs and supplements that are commonly recommended for the diseases that BHT is often used for, they should not be used in combination with BHT.

When using herbs like milk thistle, dandelion, and turmeric to treat hepatitis or other viruses, do not use BHT.

High doses of vitamin supplements are not recommended when using BHT to fight a virus. When utilizing high dose vitamin C therapy or high doses of other vitamins, don’t use BHT.

Grapefruit juice, colloidal silver, hydrogen peroxide and MSM are also contraindicated when you are taking BHT.”

You commented, “Do your own research.” So I did.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but the NEWEST reference cited in the article you linked to was 1999.

Let’s see.....in 1999, floppy disks were still in use.....Facebook barely existed...YouTube was still 5 years away from being launched.....and the Internet blowing up for Y2K was the major news story.

As the Advanced Liver Disease & Hepatitis C Coordinator for a major federal facility that serves over 100,000 people, I am here to tell you that Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C knowledge has expanded and grown 100-fold or more over the last 18 months. Nowhere in any current literature or accepted practice is BHT part of treatment for Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C, or prevention, or anything.

Believe what you want. But if BHT were the magic be-all, cure-all for Hepatitis C, I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be 3.5 million people walking around with it in the U.S today. And THAT source is the CDC, 2020. :)

. . .”As the Advanced Liver Disease & Hepatitis C Coordinator for a major federal facility that serves over 100,000 people . . .”,

you should have known enough to discuss the subject without extra research.

Thank you for your comment.

My opinion of the CDC remains unchanged.
