NBA legend Kobe Bryant's sudden death, when he and eight others including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash, shook the world on Sunday. In this era of social media, where news travels faster than any period in history, traditional media competed to be first to report on any detail about the tragedy. But news organizations and publications, in rushing to share "breaking news," caused confusion with unchecked statements and several mistakes.

Partisan Media Shills have done little besides regurgitate DNC talking points since Clinton started running for President, and now, *this* is a problem?

Partisan Media Shills update.

Typically you don’t need the media to surmise what happens, they generally distort reality.

Sorry, but “Shook the world” is just too much hyperbole to be tolerated without comment!

He may have been a big deal to those who loyally followed his career, but there are thousands of other current and former NBA players.
It is likely that somewhere a player dies every week, the world does not turn on their presence among us.

From what I glean from current reports he basically died of excess ego, His chopper, His decision to fly in bad weather, His ego said GO anyway.
Pilot should have said no, but apparently that is hard to do with the rich and famous.

TMZ reported it before the family was notified.

Shook the world is ridiculous.
It wasn’t his helicopter.

Flight into IMC (instrument meteorological conditions) where all other flights were told not to fly plus pilot relied on visual clues (missing due to fog) and not instruments; spatial disorientation.

I think, these days, that being first is less meaningful than being comprehensive and accurate. “First” today isn’t like in newspaper time. Today you’re first by mere seconds. Build a rep for knowing what you’re talking about among followers.

The truth about any incident is never publicly clear for at least 72 hours, and in some cases not for another 50 years. I’m willing to wait.

The whole idea about freedom of speech and the press was the Enlightenment era belief that the truth would have to rise to the top and lies and errors be exposed if speech and press were not suppressed.

“TMZ reported it before the family was notified.”

Is that true? Do you have a source link?

When pilot was circling LA why was he not instructed to ground, or navigate to another direction than the one he went into (mountain side)?

When you get right down to it, having a children's basketball event promoted with his name held many miles away from his home, combined with poor weather conditions were the real causes.

Most "normal" people would have either:
a) postponed or cancelled the event or
b) got an early start to drive there in time.

Being a celebrity with access to a helicopter, Bryant had an alternative but it was clear, from the lack of a nearby safe place to land the chopper even if the weather had been clear and sunny, this wasn't a well-thought plan. I'm guessing Bryant thought he could just land in the parking lot which always worked at the basketball arena.

It is everywhere. And I apologize for using CNN.

The police “scolded TMZ”, whatever the hell that means.

Well, of course this is a tragic accident that took too many lives, including children. But Kobe Bryant really is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was just passed by LeBron James and is now the #4 in total career points scored, and many other triumphs.

And he was only 41 years old. So yeah, his death in this crash (or however he might have died) is headline news.

Hey, at least it gives us 1/2 a day off from ORANGE MAN BAD.

RIP Kobe & all, may the Lord comfort you families.
