Sorry, but “Shook the world” is just too much hyperbole to be tolerated without comment!

He may have been a big deal to those who loyally followed his career, but there are thousands of other current and former NBA players.
It is likely that somewhere a player dies every week, the world does not turn on their presence among us.

From what I glean from current reports he basically died of excess ego, His chopper, His decision to fly in bad weather, His ego said GO anyway.
Pilot should have said no, but apparently that is hard to do with the rich and famous.

Shook the world is ridiculous.
It wasn’t his helicopter.

When you get right down to it, having a children's basketball event promoted with his name held many miles away from his home, combined with poor weather conditions were the real causes.

Most "normal" people would have either:
a) postponed or cancelled the event or
b) got an early start to drive there in time.

Being a celebrity with access to a helicopter, Bryant had an alternative but it was clear, from the lack of a nearby safe place to land the chopper even if the weather had been clear and sunny, this wasn't a well-thought plan. I'm guessing Bryant thought he could just land in the parking lot which always worked at the basketball arena.

Well, of course this is a tragic accident that took too many lives, including children. But Kobe Bryant really is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was just passed by LeBron James and is now the #4 in total career points scored, and many other triumphs.

And he was only 41 years old. So yeah, his death in this crash (or however he might have died) is headline news.

Hey, at least it gives us 1/2 a day off from ORANGE MAN BAD.

RIP Kobe & all, may the Lord comfort you families.
