He hated the Peter Jackson films.
Tolkien was the first novelist of any kind that I read. I’ll never forget reading the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit as a senior in high school. From there, I completely devoured any info I could get on the Tolkien fantasy world. RIP.
So smaller-screen folks can view this fascinating map.
It is amazing to me that he was able to achieve so much in terms of editing and publishing his father’s works in the last 40 years.
If anyone here is a Tolkien fan and wants to learn about the development of the trilogy while getting to read long passages from the early (and previously unpublished versions of the story) do yourself a favor and start buying these:

The 6th - 9th volumes are the ones that cover The Lord of the Rings and they are fascinating. Strider was originally going to be a Hobbit. Who knew?
