Another idiot with a gun. For all he knew, the dog was excitedly coming to get petted. Idiots like him can’t interpret animal body language and automatically assume the dog is coming after them.
The Post says unleashed. Other papers say leashed and say there is at least news pic of the dog lying dead on the sidewalk with its leash still on. And, is the agent that Muslim looking guy in the Post's photo? Just saying.
how many times do we have to tell those darn dogs it’s time to go home when the street lights come on?
Idiot owners.
This agent should be relieved of his badge until a thorough investigation into his fitness for the position can be 100% determined.
Also; he should not be allowed to carry a gun until his mental fitness can be determined.
From the article: “Then I heard people arguing and cursing, Whyd you let the gun go off?
I guess he “let the gun go off”, because the gun was afraid of dogs, and he wanted his gun to feel safe.
Almost nobody here believes the Cop was telling the truth.
My spidey sense tells me we’ll find out LATER this was a FEMALE Secret Service agent!
Good. Keep your dog in your yard or on a leash.

I was attacked by a feral dog on the street in Queens. I punched it in the nose and it fled. If I had had a gun I damned sure would have shot it.
As for me, I could never shoot another person's dog. Not even ol' Yeller......
Oh, never mind...he dead.
Update: https://nypost.com/2020/01/14/dog-killed-by-secret-service-agent-was-on-a-leash-but-unrestrained/
“The dog that was fatally shot by an off-duty Secret Service agent in Brooklyn was on a leash at the time but unrestrained, the agency said Tuesday.
An off-duty Secret Service employee was involved in the shooting of an unrestrained and aggressive canine in Brooklyn, NY yesterday, an agency spokesman said in a statement Tuesday. As this is an ongoing investigation, the Secret Service will not have further comment.
The agency said the dog was on a leash but it was unsecured from its owner, who was not present.
A source familiar with the investigation confirmed to The Post that the dog was on a leash, but that no one was holding the leash at the time of the shooting.”
