U.S. Women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe shamed Sports Illustrated for a “lack of diversity” even as she delivered her acceptance speech for the magazine’s “Sportsperson of the Year” award.
Rapinoe took the podium Monday at the magazine’s award ceremony, but she took them to task for only having had four female persons of the year saying, “Is it truth that I’m only the fourth woman deserving of this award? I don’t think so,” Mediaite reported.
Rapinoe went on scolding SI: “Is it true, so few writers of color deserve to be featured in this publication? No. Is it true, so few women’s voices deserve to be heard and deserve to be read in this publication? I don’t think so.”
Sports Illustrated should not have expected simple gratitude from Rapinoe as she has used award speeches to attack her benefactors several times before.

Can somebody shut this flash-in-the-pan nobody up? A fleeting “champion” in a sport no one cares about. Five years from now no one will know her name and she’ll be hanging around some high school somewhere sniffing out sexually confused sophomores.

More and more Americans see sports as the bread & circuses for the masses while their elites sell out our country; unfortunately it took the hyperpoliticization of sports to make that clear to many.
I can’t remember the last time anyone brought up sports in a discussion; maybe the last Super Bowl? Hardworking people have little time for this BS - and particularly the idiots that make a living from it.
She’s an ageing star of a sport few people care about or watch (women’s soccer); probably realized when she headed back to a high school-sized stadium after the last big tournament that the life she devoted to this particularly unpopular sport is meaningless.
She thinks she's setting the table for a multi-million dollar career as an expert for complainers.
Under-15 boys team ( high school freshmen ? ) beat the U.S. Women’s National Team 5-2.
Lesbians should be concerned about trannies taking over their soccer jobs.
